When did you first realize you wanted to help the world?

My question is: when did you know that you wanted to help the world? I'd love to hear some of your
stories! I knew that I wanted to help a few months ago, maybe last year. What about you guys?

I've alway wanted to help in some ways. This is what I was born to do and I think I've always known
this was what was right for me, I just haven't felt it as strongly as I do now. Ps thanks for
introducing me to TIG hmw102!

I first realized I wanted to help the world when I was in my senior year of high school. I was
involved with different fundraising projects for cures for cancer and many other community projects.
I love to help people and feel like I'm making a difference in the world. But I was trying to figure
out what I could do to help people on a global scale. I was looking up majors and I found
International Relations and National Security. With this major I will work for the government and
help solve international problems. My ultimate goal is to help the world achieve peace so everyone
can be safe and not live in fear of war and destruction.

I knew that I first wanted to help the world when I was offered volunteer service to a high school
program called Shop with the Yellow Jackets. This program was attended to help elementary students
during the winter time through shopping. I was a junior in high school at that time, and I felt like
I made a real contribution knowing that these children would have any winter necessities. This event
has provided me with insight on what I can do on a global scale. Contributions that are made by a
volunteer aspect ends up assisting the world.

I realized it during my first visit to an orphanage when I was 18. The feeling was so moving. From
there, I became a university peer counselor, a nurse and a mentor... helping others little by
little...
