home product for tooth whitening

I heard they use Baking Soda is best for teeth whitening then i decided to experiment it so i put some baking soda on my toothpaste and brushed my teeth and what i seen i could not believe my teeth were looking more white then previous i thought of continue to do this for some more days so that i could get my teeth more whiter than previous. But i want to know whether it is safe to do this or it has some bad effect also. Please reply and help me out.
