Top down or Bottom up?

I have serious doubts about governments' ability to implement policies to secure lasting achievements in relation to the MDGs. I think this kind of top down approach can only work when coupled with bottom up approaches too. Ideally this will also involve international communication at the grassroots. People in more affluent countries must be seen to really want their governments to achieve the MDGs. Petitions and demonstrations may be one way to give governments a message but it is often a messsage they resent having to listen to and if at all possible they will ignore it. Better, I feel, is to advance the profile of popular bottom up initiatives.
At the moment I'm trying to raise the profile of a brilliant initiative in Uganda that is training young social entrepreneurs out of school hours so they can develop projects they can take back to their own communities and engage with others there in making good things happen.
Read about it here: http://startsomegood.com/Venture/butterfly_project_uganda/Campaigns/Show/butterfly_young_social_entrepreneurs_uganda
If you like this approach to the idea of meeting the MDGs from the bottom up as well as from the top down, the Butterfly Project is looking for support. You can send the link to friends and chip in with some financial support too if you have a paypal account.
If there is sufficient support, the plan is to expand to other African countries and train young social entrepreneurs there too, starting with Zambia in 2013.

Well David its a great step taken by you and great help for the young entrepreneurs. Best thing about this not to depend too much on the government and take initiative own self. You have given the link which is good enough to understand the matter and i will try my best to contribute in this great cause.
