Are you a life long learner?

Everyone in life learns by doing things and meeting people outside of the educational system. Our experiences shape who we are, and they are not always formal educational experiences.
TIG's theme for the month of November is "Lifelong Learning", or the idea that you have learned so much from life and the people you met, and you cannot attribute it all to schools or universities.
We want TIG members to share the things they have learned from people they have met and been inspired by.
So, who have you learned from?

Wow! That is a tall list. I have spent most of my life learning - between school, 10 years in the workforce, 7 years persuing my Bachelors of Education degree and 12 years as a classroom teacher - not to mention a parent to two amazing children and four K-9's as well as being married to an amazing woman, I do not think that my learning has ever stopped.
That said, it has changed over time. I really enjoy learning new things and I happen to be in one of the best jobs in the world for that. I teach everyday but in fact it is a learning journey for me as I try to assist my students in learning and creating their own desire to be life long learners.
I feel that as an educator and parent that the greatest gift that I can give my children or students is a desire to continue learning. Not necessarily within the confines of a classroom but learning everything about anything that interests them.
Currently for instance I am in my classroom late into the evening spending time on this site to learn how to make use of technology within my classroom. I enjoy the challenge very much and the learning curve to say the least is steep. But often those things that are worth anything are usually a bit difficult along the way.

I know I am a life long learner!! I am 36 and a single mom of 3. I am also a fulltime college student working towards my RN. I enjoy learning new things not only in school but from everyday regular people. I joined TIG because my college reading teacher gave us a final project were we have to pick a issue we are intrested in and right a blog about it. but even after I finish my project i know I will still visit TIG offten because of all the great information and people I have found here!
