Let’s Talk Revolution!

As a follow up for Youth for Change live chat “Let’s Talk Revolution”, we invite you to have a look at our chat report and share your perspectives and views in our discussion board.
http://events.tigweb.org/28465
Discussion Main Theme:
2011 revolutions have been referred to as 2.0 Revolutions due to people’s great usage of social media channels and usage of its applications, especially when it comes to sociopolitical critique and media coverage. Even after people won some of their rights; social media still reigns supreme as the number one means of communication among youth. Officials now realize the need to communicate with youth, and Social Media is a major means of doing this. The Egyptian Ministry of Defense and the Egyptian Cabinet have now established pages on Facebook to better communicate with Egyptian youth. Activists have gone an extra mile with Social Media, even after the revolutions, by creating pages and starting campaigns online calling for positive change and rebuilding their countries.
Do you think that the means of communication currently available for youth are enough to complement their steps? Or do you think that communication obstacles still exist? Do you think that some governments are still alienating themselves from their peoples? What are the possible alternatives both youth and governments can come up with to bridge this gap?
Do you have a story to share with us regarding your own experiences with social media or change? Do you have any ideas about how people can better communicate with their leaders? In your opinion, how can young people keep up what they have achieved? How can youth participate in ensuring democracy in this transitional phase?
Go ahead, and let the world hear what you have to say!

Talking about Revolution is like talking about Sex... Much more enjoyable to make Revolution than to talk Revolution.
That being said, we can all agree that Governments are motivated by money. Political contributions for re-election campaigns tend get a politicians attention more so than youths with limited incomes.
That is why 85 U.S.Congressmen are currently vacationing in Israel courtesy of the AIPAC lobby... Aipac is the most powerful lobby in Washington and they can make or break a politicians dreams. As a result, America's Foreign Policy is being held hostage to Israel's agenda.
In order for youth to participate in ensuring democracy, we must all agree NOT to participate in the military. Once governments realize that they cannot wage war on weaker nations without young peoples participation, we will have the leverage we need to demand that our tax dollars be spent on more productive endeavors like free University education and health care for all...

Our world today is continually brought closer by information technology, With the advent of more developed social media like Facebook, Twitter etc people almost all over the world can chat, share images, interests and other social issues that bother them. This would have been an end but the problem of availability overshadows the benefits of these method of communication. Majority of African youths especially those in the rural Areas have not heard about internet talk more of Facebook etc. Its awful ...the need to reach the hinterland and the country sides with information technology gadgets becomes more paramount.
During one of our malaria sensotization programs in one of the states in Northern Nigeria we discovered that not many people believe that the world is as large as it is. They don't believe people can be as sophisticated as we look. Then to those people tell information Technology ...then you must be the most ridiculous they have seen .
Let's try more on rural education then information and communction will follow suit .
Thanks

Anyone serious about starting a revolution should be aware that governments are beginning to read everything on these blogs in order to identify the leaders and organizers of revolutions.
If you cannot stay anonymous, then you can expect the government to knock on your door when the revolution begins...
Plan your revolution targets carefully and don't advertise your intentions on the internet to far in advance... otherwise your revolution will fail.

Revolution is incomplete until youths further achieve their meaningful participation in the new leadership. Social media communication is not enough as their services are still controlled by the government,.

To ensure that youngsters in order to take part in making sure democracy, we should just about all concur To not take part in the actual army. As soon as government authorities understand that they can't salary battle upon less strong countries without having youthful individuals involvement, all of us may have the actual influence we have to need our taxes bucks end up being allocated to much more effective efforts such as free of charge College training as well as healthcare for those...
