Videos on Why You Should Never Give the Police More Power
August 16, 2011 - 04:31 PM

I suspect in the coming future there will be more and more disatisfied, angry citizens protesting on the streets of every one of our nations.
As tempting as it might sound, giving the police more power to stop, search and intimidate citizens is NEVER a good idea.
The list of videos on this website, which show police wrongdoing are rare because in most cases the police commit their attrocities in secret and without cameras watching.

http://thetruthnews.info/truthtaser.html

In the United States, they are beginning to pass Laws making it ILLEGAL for citizens to take videos of police brutality. In the near future you will see Police commit abuse more frequently because the only persons who will go to jail are the citizens with cameras... These videos will soon be removed, so watch them while you still can !

The thing you seem to not take into account is the fact that policemen are human beings just like anyone else. Its the fact that people to succumb to their emotions. So obviously police brutality will happen. I'm not using this as an excuse but I think we should take into consideration that they falter at times like any human. Obviously if that is the case they should be removed from duty but I don't think it is all that surprising for such a thing to happen. And one most also look on the other side is that it is not all policemen that do such things, their are people who are out their to help others.

Adrian, Once again you are mistaken, it is precisely because policemen are human beings that they are capable of commiting these attrocities...
When Police department officials push to make it illegal for Law abiding citizens to video police misconduct and brutality in public places, They are clearly trying to protect themselves from legal liability.
Adrian, You seem to be taking the side of the Police, so let me ask you this ;
If you were the victim of police abuse and one of your friends captured the misconduct on video... Would you not be grateful for this ??
When the Police make it illegal for us to take videos of their wrongdoing, they make it easier for the bad cops. They embolden the bad cops. Only citizens with cameras can monitor the police and prevent this....

Obviously I see your point, no policeman should abuse of his power and if he does we should strip him of his "privilege to uphold the law." And yes obviously I would want somebody to record if I was being mistreated by a policeman. But its like asking a starving a child if he would want something to eat. As for the laws that your government tries to pass of course they are ridicules but that is what the U.S.A is all about the oppression of the small people as the rich get richer. That is why you should try to start a petition against this new law!

Have a great day!

Allo there,

just stubmled across this conversation with a relevant tab open : http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20110827/23285615713/appeals-court-arresting-guy-filming-cops-was-clear-violation-both-1st-4th-amendments.shtml

it appears the US courts have just ruled that videoing police is legal and that stopping an individual from doing so contradicts their 1st and 4th amendment rights. So film away~!

This may not actually prevent transgressions of the law on the part of the constabulary, but may help with follow up and 'accountability measures' later.

chants of "The whole world is watching" (the police as they break the law) often change the mood for actions on the ground and make it clear to the polis that records of their actions will be posted for the world to see.

Thanks a Bunch Liam, You have an uncanny talent for digging up good info... Unfortunately for the rest of us Americans, The Court of Appeals for the 1st circuit will only affect those citizens living in 5 states. We have 50 states in total, So Until this case is appealed to the US Supreme Court for a hearing and if the Feds don't strike it down. Until then, The rest of us will continue to get hassled by the Police.
The guy who sued the police in Massachusetts ( Simon Glick ) was brave enough to hire an attorney and appeal the case... If people in other states refuse to back down and sue the local government, we just might see this become the law of the land one day in the distant future.... If the Supreme Court is willing to hear and rule on the case... They only hear a few cases each year....

Here is an excellent website with a list of news articles about recent police attrocities in America's heartland... A real shocking state of affairs.

I believe that police are also members of our respective societies so i recommend that they are provided adequetly with all that can help them do their work better including things that can help them fish out bad ones amongst them.

Thanks for the info Liam.. Here is a story that is becoming too common in America. Because Law enforcement is unable to catch the REAL bad guys, they have found it easier to instead Frame and bully innocent people into going to prison.
Law Enforcement then parades these framed citizens in front of the Media and then claims they are doing a great job when in fact they are just lazy or inept... http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=32703
