Mubarak trial
August 3, 2011 - 07:12 AM
|
|
A couple of blocks away from where I live in New Cairo, stand today the Egyptian overthrown president Mubarak, his two sons, his Minister of Interior, and other key persons at the Ministry of Interiors, before the tribunal, facing accusations of killing the protesters at the 25th of January Revolution.
This event marks the first ever occasion whereby an Arab/Muslim president stands before a national trial set out after a popular revolution.
What are your thoughts in light of this historical moment?

Egyptians are still protesting in the Public square...
The Egyptian military is still in charge and most of the promised changes in Egypt's government are not happening.
I wonder how many American trained military officers are currently in positions of power.
Mubarak is only a figurehead. Putting Mubarak in jail is not enough to bring about real change.
Those thousands of Egyptians who were given strategic positions in Egypt's government bureaucracy need to be terminated because they earned their jobs by being traitors to the Egyptian people...

I forgot to mention that Several months ago, Israel offered Dictator Hosni Mubarak asylum... Israel and the United States value their puppet dictator Mubarak and will miss him greatly.
They are no doubt working on their next Puppet leader of Egypt, who will show his face soon after the Mubarak trial is over.
I hope Egyptians can stay on their guard to prevent this from happening again.

Grand Inquisitor,
Very true what you're bringing up with regards to the military council's intentions. However, I strongly believe that the clock doesn't turn backwards, and that in no way the Egyptian people will allow another Mubarak to ascend to power.
Meanwhile, a handful of Egyptian intellectuals and analysts have put five scenarios on what might happen next:
1) The military council will just produce another neo-Mubarak who will rule with the same semantics internally and externally;
2) The Muslim Brotherhood will control the parliament and presidency through elections;
3) The Salafi Islamists will rule through elections;
4) The Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafis will join their efforts and rule through elections;
5) There will be a real vibrant political life in Egypt, based on respect of citizenship rights, freedoms, transfer of power, true political participation, and pluralism.
I personally prefer the fifth scenario..

Hi Saladin, I too will take the 5th as the best outcome. However, There are powerful international money interests with their own agendas of control...
I hope Egypt turns down the Zionist backed IMF (international monetary fund) offers to loan it money... These "Loans" come with dangerous strings attached.
The last thing Egypt needs now is financial enslavement. In order for Egypt to control it's own destiny
(domestic and foreign policy) it will need to avoid the money lenders....

it would be nice if Egypt goes by scenario #5... but it is difficult as I see. What do you think/ feel being in Cairo? How many people are ready to support and #5?
