What do You Think of Palm Oil?

Palm oil is generally used in 50 percent of consumer goods like packaged food, laundry detergent and toothpaste. Rain forests, in places like Indonesia, are often cleared to make way for its production. It is also consumed and shipped throughout the world and is relatively cheap to produce. Some say it contributes to the destruction of rain forests and animal habitats while others claim its the production process and not the farming that produces negative effects. Others also argue they rely on its production to sustain their livelihoods.
What do you think of palm oil? Do you think it should be clearly labeled in consumer products? Do you think it has a negative effect on the environment and endangered animals? Would you stop using it?
