What Does Happiness Mean To You?

Several times in my life, i have cried and laughed as well. Yet, there is one thing undiscovered about happiness.
What does happiness mean to you?
Please share your thoughts on this subject matter.

Happiness to me means many things. But in light of the post that you initially sent and that I read as I examined your discussion thread you sent to me with the suggestions of water, food, shelter by some readers it has caused me to stop and think.
As I write this my students are diligently working on their class presentations for their social studies class. I woke up this morning, had breakfast, had a hot shower, kissed my wife good-bye,drove to work, chatted with my collegues - wanting for virtually nothing. Arrived in class, assigned the work and now get to watch and assist my students in examining their identity through their environment.
The post that you have asked me to respond to is difficult because as I think of all of the things that I am privliged to have and the fact that I lead my life in safety, peace and security - it reminds me of all of the things that many in the world do not have.
I think my true happiness, aside from my family, comes from getting the opportunity to assist my students in finding out about the world around them and encouraging them to try to make a difference in their community at the local, regional, national and international level.
My greatest sense of happiness comes from moments when my students truly understand how fortunate they are and actually make some effort to assist others. When that happens then I am truly happy.

Happiness to me is like having something you have long for,it can be for a short period or even more and when you receive that thing you don't keep it to yourself but share with friends and loved ones.

a very gud question...one v don't think of in rational terms....
happiness is when u see a sparkle in someone's eye, when u see a smile curve on one's lips, when u hear the tinkling laugher of a person and the REASON for all this is YOU!
indeed...one should be like a Sun... spreading the rays of happiness so tht others benefit frm it!
happiness is not getting what u want...its the measure of what u do for others in this world!

Happiness is serenity, freedom from stress, and involvement in something greater than myself.
It is achieving something that has brought me joy and finding a balance between things for me and things for a greater good.

Happiness is not something easily described but it is something easily seen. Happiness is not about physical things or property, despite popular thought money and things will never give lasting happiness. Happiness is a mindset. Life is filled with ups and downs, times for laughter and times for frowns. But even on the worst day people that are truly happy still have hope. Happiness comes when the mind is free from the restraints of regrets and hatred. Happiness is being content with life, cherishing what you have, and accepting what you don't. Friends, family, God. Lasting happiness, is always knowing that no matter how awful things become, you KNOW that the after the darkness, comes the breaking dawn. Happiness in all its worth, is simply having hope, and keeping the faith.
