Is a masters Degree really worth it?

Is a masters Degree really worth it? I blif Professional certifications (PRINCE 2, SIX SIGMA, PMP, CAPM etc) gives an individual a competitive edge rather than a masters degree. Whats ur own Opinion pls?

It depends on your professional objective, some jobs need a master's degree while other need more work experience...

It also depends on what the needs are for the moment. That's why I will suggest everybody to make some research before deciding whether doing this master degree or that one is good depending on where you will be working.
By the way, in any case study more is always good!!

I think a masters degree is only required if your boss says it is. If you go out on your own to get it then you may be putting yourself at risk of being over qualified for a position and not getting a job you want or need. In my case I am working in the Culinary field and have a 2 year associates degree and I would have been better of not going to school and getting work experience. I could have also took a test to become a master chef and that is equivalent to becoming a PHD in your field of study. The only thing about doing that is no one wants to pay you for your knowledge of you skills. I do not think that a masters degree is really worth it unless you are asked to get it by your employer.

It seems that having a masters degree in Education- is not really worth it, unless you want to specialize in a certain area, like Special Education. As far as I know, the Board of Edu. would rather pay for a person with a Bachlors degree, than pay for a person with the Masters.<-From their standpoint is over qualified and they would have to pay them more. I would definitely research before getting a Masters degree.

I'm kind of torn on this question.I think unless a masters degree is required by your employer then you should not really worry about it. I know that in the teaching profession if you have more experience and a masters degree then your chances of getting hired are lowered because no one wants to pay more money to have you as a teacher. They would rather have teachers with little experience so they don't have to pay them as much. I don't know if this is the case in other professions so maybe having a masters would help you move up the working ladder. Plus, if you don't really have the money to go back to school for your masters then you would just be putting yourself in more debt, because you're probably in debt from getting your bachelors. However, I do feel that if you are really passionate about a subject then why not get your masters if it means gaining more knowledge about something you love? When you really enjoy something, it's easy to focus on so the school work wouldn't be so bad.

Learned things never goes waste. So if you have masters definitely its worthy,in many organizations for higher posts they require master degree. So if you have it's a plus point for you.
