You are requested to support Youth Initiative Canada, in it's efforts to
create awareness of HIV/AIDS among youth through Hip Hop and Percussion, by

Young people are a heterogeneous group with diverse vulnerabilities,
needs, realities and preferences. Recognizing that no single strategy or
message can have the desired effect on every young person, evidence shows
that the best HIV preventive responses are comprehensive and
multidimensional.
Hip Hop is a medium for self-expression, and like all mediums for
self-expression, it can be used as a tool for social change. Throughout
history, Hip Hop has and continues to carry forth the voices of the
under-heard and under-represented.
Percussion on the other hand can be used as an effective tool to
communicate a potent message and capture attention. It speaks to the core of
our beings. Everyone can relate and everyone has rhythm. The drumbeat was
the first thing we ever felt, our mothers heartbeat was the first drum we
ever heard.
