LANGUAGE BARRIER IN TEACHING, WHICH WAY OUT?
October 9, 2010 - 01:30 PM

I wish to hear your views on what is your prefered method for solving the problem of trying to teach a subject that is wholly structured in English to students who dont have a good background knowledge of English.
I teach Computer Application packages, and I am daily faced with this problem of students who cant speak or understand English language.
These are students who are either in Secondary schools or sometimes have even finished their secondary education.
I feel by teaching them in the local language i am not helping them grow in the learning of Englilsh which is the universal language.
If i go ahead and teach in English, I have problem with getting them to comprehend the lessons.
Do you have similar experiences, lets share it.
