UK ID Cards

The Home Secretary David Blunkett, has announced that by 2013 all UK citizens will be carrying ID cards.
Has a Portuguese citizen I am used to an ID card, but here in the UK the majority of the public is against the ID Card with good reason.
Unlike my ID card the UK’s Card will have your DNA and all your details inside a microchip. I think its ridiculous and an infringement of the human rights. Also a new passport will be created with iris recognition technology. Personally I think the Home Secretary is going too far.

I haven't quite confirmed what you're claiming, but I do agree w/ the fact that it's he's stretching it. But, you didn't specify which personal details will be on the chip, other than DNA. If you're referring to additional data such as DOB, SSN, etc., then it will obviously pose a high security risk for citizens in the event that the card falls in the wrong hands. I do, however, support passports & ID cards w/ iris technology. Iris technology will, in many cases, prevent identity theft.
