I wonder why it's not - on table - issue as others...
soon people won't find places to plant nor to live
we should build vertically and land Reclamation, expand the green areas
we have to think more about earth and environment more than other things which destroys it

There are many possible ways of countering or preventing desertification but the Imperial team wanted to try something new. They added a set of genes to the gut microbe Escherichia coli that allow it to detect malate a chemical released by plant roots. When placeD in soil, the bacteria swim towards roots and gets taken up by the plant. Once inside, they use another second set of added genes to produce auxin, a hormone that stimulates the growth of roots. Longer roots mean more stable soil, which means less desertification.

As the global population crosses 7 billion, the pressure on land has increased exponentially in recent decades.

Hello, world!
This issue is actually being investigated by many agricultural enthusiasts. For example, search the web for Sepp Holtzer, a German permaculture farmer. He wrote books about his work and he organized some projects to battle desertification. He actually has a revolutionary way to change the agriculture completely.
