Are small steps enough??

There are A LOT of issues out there related to the environmental health of the planet. So how do we correct them? How do we enact change on a global scale?
I unequivocally believe that significant and wide-sweeping change is most likely possible through good decisions by governments. I find myself hoping that government leaders meeting in Copenhagen this week will make some good decisions. However, at the individual level, are little steps enough?
I find myself wondering "Am I doing enough?" fairly regularly. Obviously, if each person took it upon themselves to change all of their bad habits and practices for the benefit of the environment, the solution would be a fair bit more simple. However, I would say that there are a lot of people out there that need a push. This begs the question...do you preach or try to lead by example?
Any thoughts??

I think there has been enough preaching so far, in fact, that's mostly all that has been occuring. Leading by example is a great start, but honestly gets us nowhere unless it extends out to other people. Get the word out to those around you, and show them how it's done.

Small steps when done by many adds up. More and more people are going green and new ideas on going green are popping up all the time. Not only are people more aware now but they also exert the extra effort to go green.

It might start with small steps but we should always look for improvement. But essentially Going green should be done in any level possible or feasible.
Cause only a small step starts a journey of thousand miles....

I do not think small steps are enough. Huge steps must be taken as soon as possible.
Any government can claim to be making small changes in an effort to slow down climate change, but we need a government or a country to do something major.
I am getting rather tired of hearing about governments doing small things.
Where are the changes?
Stop driving cars for a day and see what happens. Could you imagine the political controversy and action this would result in? It would be phenomenal.
Big changes must happen!
