A small bug....

Hi,
Just wanted to notify about a small bug in the TIG messenger system, when a person is not logged in or has not yet signed up and clicks the TIG messenger icon then the messenger window pops up but with a SQL error, i think that the window should show a log in or sign up box instead. Otherwise, the messenger works perfectly!
One thing more, I found out a few days ago that we can add our updates in languages written from left to right using the windows XP support for languages like Arabic, Urdu, Persian etc they are stored in the database as unicode characters, i presume.
You can check it at my updates page with the title of "Multilingual updates" http://updates.takingitglobal.org/read/awaqeel
It is a great feature indeed, it showed success on Windows 98 and even Linux with Mozilla. But when i tried to use the same left to right language support in the messenger, the text appeared to be written to me in URDU but to the other person and in my message archieves it appeared to be in some other characters with dashes and dots on he English alphabets.
Same was the case when i copied the urdu text from my update and post it as a comment to update from Windows update, the same characters appeared....
It will be great if the Messenger does also start supporting this feature of using left to right languages...It will further the task of making TIG a mutilingual platform....It will be like an emerald with gold as such the TIG site is concerned
Wish you understand what i mean to say, please ask me if you have any queries or explanations...
See ya! and Happy New Year to all the TIG staff and Members around the globe.

Nope... the chat room works just fine. My only problem is that I don't really want to keep the chat window open all the time. Maybe I'll start spending more time in there...

I fixed the messenger popup login problem awhile ago FYI
About the translation problem - Urdu not working in TIG Messenger, can you post the Urdu word here that didn't work in TIG Messenger so I can investigate and fix? Thanks!

I remember we've got a link to view the history of messeges sent or received on TIG messenger but i don't find it in V5. I need to look to those sent, to be sure i'm not repeating the same BLABLABLA when talking to TIG friends...
i don't have MSN or other messengers at office so i rely on TIG messenger to be complete
thanks.

If you receive any messages they are automatically placed in the "My TIG" tab located at the top of every page of TIG. If you have a message a small envelope icon will blink letting you know that you have a message.
Hope this helps!

It would be cool if they could collapse into conversations like Gmail or if you could have conversations between more than two people... hey, everyone has a wishlist...
