Chicago Fair trade
November 19, 2009 - 03:12 AM

Fair trade means that a business is fair to the producers and good to the earth. Under Chicago fair trade practices, producers receive a fair wage for their work; the working conditions provided to the producers are safe. The producers and buyers develop long-standing relationships among themselves. The producers have access to credit and technical assistance as per the fair trade norms. These practices also involve giving equal employment opportunities to all, and taking special initiatives for the empowerment of women. The practices of fair trade businesses are completely transparent, accountable and democratic. Further, the environmentally sustainable practices are encouraged and implemented for being good to earth and contributing our part to the conservation of our Mother Nature.
