The equal fight isnot only for male and female, but also for the 3rd gender people. And this fight is more difficult then feminism fight.
* Rainbow flag
In 1978, Harvey Milk asked his friend - Gilbert Baker to design a logo for the demonstration of the LGBT community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender people) in San Francisco. Gilbert Baker created a flag while he was listening the song named Over the rainbow by Judy Garland.
The first flag have 8 colors with 8 own meanings :
Pink : Gender
Red : Life
Orange : Healing
Yellow : Sunlight
Green : Nature
Dark-green : Magic/ Arts
Indigo : Harmony
Purple(lilac): Spirit
Within a year, the flag had shed two of its stripes—pink and violet. According to Gilbert, they "ran out of pink dye."The violet stripe was later taken out to create an even number of stripes on the flag.
Nowadays, the rainbow flag with 6 colors ( blue replaced indigo), is the symbol of the 3rd gender people in all over the world.The rainbow flag has found wide application on all manner of products including jewelry, clothing and other personal items and the rainbow flag colours are routinely used as a show of LGBT identity and solidarity. One common item of jewelry is the pride necklace or freedom rings, consisting of six rings, one of each colour, on a chain. Other variants range from key chains to candles.The LGBT people in everywhere wear it to recognize each other and to show their pride.
* Freedom and difference
In the end of that year, Harvey Milk is killed.He was an American politician and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. His death shocked the LGBT community. They known they have to unite in their struggle. The rainbow flag is the dream of the freedom which LGBT people always dream of. The difference should be respected, not to be discriminated. Like the colors of rainbow can stand next to each other beautifully.
Nowadays, not only the LGBT people but also the straight people use the rainbow symbols, to show the inspiring for the 3rd gender people. Or just to remind us of living in a world of freedom and equal, and each person should proud of value themselves. It's not only for the right of LGBT people , but also a lesson for us how to treat them. Because frankly, the difference makes the world more beautiful!!
The story about the rainbow flag is the story about how to respect the different ones, about the people who dare to against the world to protect their difference and proud of it. They didnot afraid or try to hide their real personal.
