New Method of Low Bandwidth Access
October 28, 2003 - 09:27 AM

So, right now I'm living in Croatia.
Unlike Toronto, there is no broadband here.
Internet access is all dial-up and charged **per-minute**
So, faster ways to get content are better ways.

The 2 most prevalent being SMS (by far #1 in europe) and Email.

Sooooooooo, this is the idea, add the ability to check something in your profile that says:
[x] Send me complete updates by SMS
[x] Send me complete notifications by SMS
[x] Send me complete updates by Email
[x] Send me complete notifications by Email

When I say "complete" I mean the actual text of the update, not a link to it. This is important, because if it's a link, it saves you no "online time". If it's the text, then you have it quickly and don't need to go online. People already love TIG. If they subscribe via SMS, we don't need to get them to come to the site to read TIG content -- they are getting it.

They could even subscribe to forums, etc and have them emailed/SMS'd as a daily/weekly digest.

Just a thought.

Wow... I like this idea a lot!

I'll add it to TIG Imporvements, our future features bug system smile
