Works for me. Everytime i see a ferrari I need to have a lie down somewhere dark and calm. Strangely the same thing happens everytime I go to buy a Snickers - I have completely given up on buying beer

Advertisers are not selling sex they are selling an image. The concept of the naked woman and the car first gets people (lets face it men) to look at the car ( i bet the car mentioned was not a VW rabbit or BUG or a family car but probably a relativly high performance car), secondly you have to make the man think that by buying this car he will be better/sexier/richer/more attractive etc etc.
Marketing is arranged around specific constraints. To sell a razor blade you have a man (better looking than most of us) who is now sexually attractive. The shave makes him more desirable. There was a famous group of Ads in England several years ago that invovled a James Bond type figure undergoing numerous dangers to leave a box of chocolates for a woman. This plays on the romantic aspects of the chocolates as a gift. The tasters choice coffee ads use sublimal images of an attractive couple to get people interested in coffee. Advertisers play on our mental an social images of ourselves and manipulate them; they show us that we can be better, sexier and more desirable. its image manipulation which arguably is what is done when you pick the icons for your names. Some people use photographs - are these pictures of you when you first get up in the mkorning - of course not. You use pictures that portray the best side of you. Likewise the icons showing images of other things show aspects of your nature you wish to promote - mysterious, intelligent whatever.
The use of sex is becoming more prevalent as we become more innured to sxual imagery. The use of the Victoria Secret ads would not have been sanctioned even twenty years ago, now we they are almost passe.
Advertising is based on collective surveys of what works. Ultimately the consumers have the power, get all of your friends to only buy cars with clothed women ads and perhaps we can make the wordl a better (less naked) place.

One thinks that by putting a naked woman side by side men will think that sex comes with the car, however the motivation for advertisements is sligthy more subtle...

When someone sees someone else physically attractive they get aroused, more excited and more willing to do things (like buy stuff)...

If they put a woman next to the car, then people get aroused by looking at the woman and the car...

What the car company hopes will happen is that eventually the car will cause arousal without the woman present, so when someone goes to buy a car they are more inclined to the model in the commercial... Not because of the woman, but because of the arousal.

It is the same principle behind pavlov's dogs...
Foods means salivation... food is delivered when bell is rung... bell means salivation
or

Woman means arousal... woman is with car... car means arousal...

I think advertisers use women for advert in other to get people's attention for their products.

But i don't agree with the idea of using women as a sex obeject because it is very very bad.Women are special people and they should be treated as such.

hello,

I don't think advertisers use females for adverts as a sex obeject,i think women attract most than men.And to get people's attention for your product,you need women to do the job perfectly.
