The media plays an important role in the development of the nation by this I mean the soceity at large. Whether we realise it or not, they shape our opinions and our actions. However, who is really in charge you or the media? How much of it shapes your life in general?

A nice question for introspection! Well! i am observing the ever increasing influence of media on the common lots, who in the name of general awareness, keep themselves glued to the television. Biased news, non-sense tele-serials, atheistic movies, consumersitic ads, mad laughter shows, and of all absolute stupid reality shows; the perfect social tools of control for the ruling elite.
Then, little wonder, rich keep piling on their assets while middle & lower classes lower themselves in misery.
I am thankful to God, that I am in control of my thoughts, not the media!

to say the media is in total control is the misrepresentation of facts especially now that new media has showed up on the scene. It has been said that news is what the Editor says is news and that is undisputable but these people who are in control are also controlled by the news makers and the market.
People have the power to choose,and to gain the populace's favor the media tries to tailor certain content for a particular audience who also have the power to choose between many such media.
Agenda, agenda setting is necessary in a democracy because at the end of the day there has to be one.the media helps shape the agenda and gets people thinking.dependence or independence of mind should be viewed as personal weakness or strength.

well,i think that's a very important issue !...for my self i controle my own thoughts and all my actions.
the media is so powerful in a positve way and ofcourse in a very negative way. we should first educate the society well so they wouldn't be dragged into the disadvantages of media.
media is not an enemy we should learn what's wrong and what's right,and never let the media or anything else controle the way we think...we shouldn't blame it on technology,
we'r all in it together.

Actualy its a really nice question....
Whe u see in a movie some one that its doing god for the rest of the other people, u think imediatly to do the same thing and u inspire the people around u, that this is the best thing u could ever do, and when u see that anyone dispite the god u've made turnes u around, this make of us, and the message that mediatic forums learned us to do, to eat that u have weasted that time doing good for What?
Actually fr nothing...
Medi works in a way that it is ttally mediockr, and for that most of the people dispite the true mesages of the media many sisunderstand, and for that medias are usully tryed to make the mesages more siply more and more.
But i dont know when u read a book its the same way as it when u see a mvie, no, becouse its the sense of time tat dont permite t to read a book, and soo u can watch it through tv, and that makes of all mesages, t leave and losee theyr first porpose. never mind as for the question i think i undestandble that its media that mkes our opinion, and sometimes even if we dont want that its inposibe to keep that away from our sefs...thats a shame, bitter but almost irrefutable.

I think this is such an important issue in our time of a changing world
and I belive media has a very importnat role
As it has been writen, do not remember by who
The pen is mighter then the sword
This I believe is he back bone of our media today
New,etc. etc. etc
We as Humans are born to know Right from Wrong
Every baby born was given this gift
but Humans who have a vested interest
have learned to manipulate the information that is being sent out to those they wish to EFFECT
Cutting edge jernalism seems to be for times when people have had enough and call for a change
But with the world being smaller threw movies news etc
the net gives us the chance to speak
out and ask
What are they really saying
and how does it really effect us
This is a GREAT POST
to the future

Great thread of thoughts.
While media may appear like it is affecting us and controlling us, also keep in mind that we, the society dictates what the media put out. The media writes what sells. They make movies that appeal to us. They report things that will rank up the ratings and the ads of the show. And yet, media is often blamed for what the children have become. But we patronize it and it sells and so the media keeps at it.
Doesn't this sound a lot like the chicken and egg question?
