As a child, I was afraid of angry strangers exchanging physical or verbal abuses; that their targets would increase and eventually I might also be harmed. The fear of violence.

Now I realize the fear of childhood still exists.

Then fear of losing loved ones, parents! Whenever, they fell ill, I was terrified that I would be losing one. Thank God, I am lucky enough to have them both.

Unfortunately, many children of the World are victims to these two of my childhood fears. God bless them with patience and His kindness.

Hi, I'm not really sure about children's fears, but I know how important a task it is for parents to make sure that their children are well taken care of and given the attention they need. I'm a Psychology major at my university, and something I've learned over the past weeks is that the first 5 years of a person's life make a lasting and lifelong impact. For example, if a child was beaten, abused, abandoned, etc., it will reflect in that person's life when he/she grows up. Many researches have shown that people who were abused as a child may also abuse their own children. Things like this really let me realize the importance and responsibility of parents. It's such a huge and important decision to make, because people just can't afford to start families without thinking whether they'll be good enough parents for their children. Remember, first 5 years = lifelong impact.

A child's fear can be caused by a lot of different reasons. Fear of the unknown, fear of reprimand, etc. Sometimes, the parent's fears are absorbed by the child too. When a baby who is learning to walk sees the fear in the eyes of his parents (who fears the baby might fall and hurt himself), the baby observes that and at times, tend to absorb it too.

Common childerns fears, that I have encountered over the years is,
Monsters under the Bed
Monsters in the closet
Monsters outside the windows on cold dark windy night.

As they get older it went to not fitting in, with school kids
Playground bullies,etc

Or being singled out, in a group of peers like when they they are asked questions as a group, they know they do not know the answers too.

then it goes to not being liked, or not being popular, which seemed to be more of an issue with kids who were popluar to keep their statis.

But what I always noticed was it was
Fear of the UNKOWN

Not knowing what was going to happen, was worse for some kids then knowing they were in Trouble, at least they knew what to expect.

I dont think Humans really get over this fear, they just get beter and dealing with it!

To the Future
Love
E
