The chat room has ALWAYS been an issue. It is mostly empty. It is in short not the preferred way of communication here at TIG.
If you just want to chat, go to IRC or something like that. There are thousands of channels there on a numberless of topics.
TIG's main communication methods are these discussion forums as well as the updates. Try focus on what you can get the biggest harvest from.
And otherwise, good luck with all and take care!

If the discussion forums are fulfilling all the requirements of TIG members, then for what? tig has created me. Just to ornament its forehead & to impress other sites that tig also possesses a Chat Room?
O'woe is me. Sheer injustice this is.

is somebody there to give me a cord?
so that i may put it around my neck

I don't think it is fair to conclude that a TIG chat room is useless or not preferred at this point. Maybe I am blind or clueless, but other than reading in discussion posts about this phantom chat room, I would not know it exists. I certainly can't get to it, because...I have no idea how.
Concerning other chats - I have used Yahoo chat and I have been in some Swedish and Finnish chat rooms, and the quality of person one tends to find in those is discouraging and upsetting, to say the very least. One of the things that attracted me to TIG was the superior quality of people here - more mature, intelligent and serious, and more honest about who they are.
Bottom line, I don't think you should give up on an idea before it has been adequately tried and tested. I don't think I am so different from everyone else that I am the only person who is not able to find where this chat room is. I also think that is what Abongta's point was.

I never knew that TIG had a chat room. And if its there as claimed, then how do you get to it?
