But really should I be "in love" with some hairy guyom Afganistan..? I am positive they dont love ME. Afterall.. perhaps they do and they just dont wanna admitt it? Hmmm.. Hippy Weirdo... If we all loved each other.. we would all just be happy. YAY FOR HAPPINESS (kiddin guys.. sarchasim
What's up with u babe? I think u don't know what happen abroad ur frontiers... A big percentage of people around the world hates what U.S. Government do or did around the world... As I am considered smart I recognize americans citizens are cool people, in spite of the fact "Uncle Sam" external policys... Do u know that Saddam or Osama worked for the CIA before their stupid war? Why Americans builded that Frankensteins?
Imagine u what should be the percentage of hate on American indegenious tribes as Sioux who were resisted the criminal acts of U.S. forces... They lost their lands, they were victims of one of the biggest holocaust through world history, they became from owners of a big land to people of third class - or as animals... It isn't a very sad story? That is only a tiny example of what the ambitious of people did or do for reaching new territories, treasures or markets...
I don't think necessarily that all these victims spend all the time of their life hating the others... If u don't know, lot of the victims of Twin Towers also are people with foreigners roots or inmmigrants... 5 peruvians died in that insanity attack... and I dont hate Arabs...
You need to see more than the top of a forest.... open ur mind... Open ur hearth... Open ur soul... Don't hate... You, me and the world really needs "Love" to change this world... All what happened in the past were the result of a culture of ambitious, hate and insanity... If we want to live in a real "Developed" society... We need to send our "Love" to the future and promote It in others as now!
People wants to live with freedom, tolerance, equality, fraternity and peace.... because "One World" is enough for all of us - Not three!

Hi guys,
Abby, you're right that what happened on 911 was not OK. It's good for us to think of the people who were killed and their children. No one here is disagreeing with that.
But I'm guessing that you have never been outside of your country.
The truth is that most people in the world live with big events like 911 happening to tem constantly, and I'm speaking from personal experience. Children in Palestine, the Congo etc. have grown up in a constant war zone. Can you imagine having 911 happen to you EVERY DAY?
Children in most countries of the world, except for the US grow up with CONSTANT FEAR. I have, and it has shaped who I am. So although I was not in 911, I do know what it.s like.
You wrote, "you are being VERY disrespectful to say that it's "ok" to kill over 2,000 people and letting them got off free . . . . Perhaps you should put yourself in the position of the children of the people who were lost in 9/11."
Abby, none of us are saying that 911 was "OK." It wasn't OK, and I uniquely identify with the wrong and hurt that took place. Many of us on this board probably do put ourselves in the position of the children.
THAT exactly is why people are saying that we muse love other people - because they go through the same thing every day. Our friends in other countries have 911 happen to them and now we can understand how terrible it is. Our hearts should break for them, just as we break for 911.
And the truth is that yes, you should forgive, even if no one else does or if other countries don't forgive us. In the long run, not forgiving only hurts you and makes you a bitter, angry, and ugly person.
Love, clarita

good point luke

Luke - your post on Dec. 15th, great point. Believing in other people is part of loving them. We want people to believe in us, don't we? We need it. If we hate them then they will hate us back. If we give people the benefit of the doubt, believe in them, then we give them a chance to respond well. I believe that each of us individually should extend trust to others first. And if they respond poorly, well then that is their problem, and we know that we did the right thing. International politics is different than individual relationships of course, but in both cases we must extend more trust to other people. That's why going overseas is important, because we learn that other people are human, that they are educated and have good ideas and values, and that we can trust them - not necessarily to agree with us, but we can trust MOST people to be thoughtful and make good decisions. - clarita

Jesus said

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone would simply do what Jesus said to do-love our neighbors as ourselves? (Matthew 22:39). But when people don't treat others with much love, they're going to have problems-and they do! It can safely be said that all of the evils in the world today have their root cause in people's lack of love for God and each other. Nevertheless, the simple love of God and each other is still God's solution, even in such a complex, confused and highly complicated society as that of the world today. If we love God, we can love and respect each other. We can then follow His rules of life, liberty, and the possession of happiness, and all will be well and happy in Him.
So let's ask God to help us love our neighbors with His love. And remember, "neighbor" doesn't only mean the one who lives next door. It is anyone we meet who needs our help, regardless of race, creed, color, or nationality.

AMERICANS

Yeah!
there should be love and peace for the world to be a better place. Goddess, dont u do history. Haven't u heard of how pople in the western world colonize the blacks, have u heard of apartheid, slavery, colonies. Are u aware of how the peoplein the western world bullied other people. Did u hear of hitler. Now you are talking about 2,000 americans who died during the 9/11 events.
If there are people who sould be justified for terrorism in the world, then this people are the blacks. they have been brutalized in the past, but they have forgotten and forgiven you guys. so why cant you forget about 9/11 and all other misdeeds done by the arabs. od u know that this people are trying to protect something? maybe their religion. CAnt you tell Bush to stop fighting terror with terror if US ia a God Owned country who believes in peace. U see, in this world of ours almost everybody bis guilty and we have to forget anf forgive. especially we youths. its our duty to create a better world.
so luke, goddess and others a word is enough for the wise!

Those were not wise words - the suffering of blacks has nothing to do with 9/11. These are seperate issues.
And recall that while Hitler was a western leader - so were all his enemies - The English, French and Americans - it was America which finally defeated him.
And while I think forgiveness is ultimately a goal - forgetting is not possible or advisable - never forget.
Yes the blacks have forgiven the whites in my country - by and large, though they certainly have not forgotten. But such forgiveness took time and justice to acheive.
Also I think you misunderstand why we fought in say Afghanistan - it was not simply revenge but a defense of our citizens - we could not allow those who mean us the greatest possible harm to continue training, plotting, arming and evolving.
It isnot just about 2000 people - they tried destroying our economy (World Trade Center) our military (Pentagon) and our government (the White House). This was an attempt to destabilize and destroy my country - it was an open act of war and it was treated as such.

I think we have made the topic of "Where is the Love?" into a national issue, added more drama and feelings to it and made a universal topic more personal.. don't you think?

Unity and love
December 31, 2004 - 07:48 AM

Udara has reported that Sri Lanka is uniting in their tragedy and have, for the first time in quite a while, forgotten differences and are working together. In all the tragedy this is a good start. I am also impressed to see that Indonesia is letting the media in, political agendas are being left behind as many unite to help.
People in this discussion have been talking about the reality of the song 'Where is the love?' by Black Eyed Peas. I guess this is a time when we can honestly say that most of the world is uniting to give aid to the Tsunami hit regions and maybe this is where the love is, for once united in one cause.
It is tragic that it takes a disaster for us to find unity, to find strength as a global community, to show true love for one another!
It's just a thought!
