where is the love?
October 23, 2003 - 12:13 PM

I think you all guys have known and listened to the song called "Where is the Love" by Black Eyed Peas. I love that song so much, 'coz it actually describes what's happening in our world. We are, I think, questioning that how hard it is to find love now? Some people do not respect each other. why? our GOD has created us as ONE FAMILY. In my religion, Islam, teaches us how to live together and that it is also explained in the Holy Quran that GOD CREATED US IN SO MANY DIFFERENT CULTURES, DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS, DIFFERENT WORKS, DIFFERENT FAITH, BUT WE HAVE TO BE ONE! SO now, I want all of you guys to make peace, make love, respect each other. No matter what our gov/non-gov leaders talk in the different way, sometimes they just talk 'bout WAR,WAR,AND WAR!so WE HAVE TO UNITY TO MAKE PEACE AND LOVE. Here is the Lyric of the song, Hope you all guys enjoy it. I'M WAITING FOR YOUR COMMENTS. THX...

"Where Is The Love?"

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Badness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how a n**** works and operates
N**, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love?
The love, the love

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love?
The love, the love

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our own direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive to lovers bound

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?

Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?

Hey!!
December 1, 2003 - 03:15 AM

we are so lost in our day today bickerings and the little things that should have not even been given that much importance that we loose out the most important thing in life.. LOVE.. and people we can love and give love to.. we ruin a perfect day and a perfect relationship just cos we cannot see it.. we think that everyhting else is important so we put all issues first instead of trying to save what could have been the most beautiful thing called "LOVE" .. i think that we don't have time to sit and think what could be the most important thing in life..

it is a very lovely song though, i did listen to it a lot of times and saw the video on t.v. too smile ..*cheers*

Abatha,

The point of the song perhaps requires some deeper insight -- the POINT is that not all Arabs rammed planes into "your" major buildings. How about Timothy McVeigh? Do you hate everyone in New York state because he bombed a building and he was born there? Come on!

In the past, "us" north americans have done some pretty unsavory things to other countries, and we hope and work towards being forgiven. The point is that only by working together with and "loving" people from other countries can we solve these problems. And yes, I think you'd be surprised if you spoke with some Arabs or Afganis who have immigrated to the USA or Canada and you would find that they do love "you" and your country.

And your comment about some guy from Afganistan is very immature and dissapointing. It shows why there are barriers still to love -- because of insensitive comments like that. I love our friend Haseeb from Afganistan who has just posted lots of ???? to your post -- he has contributed wonderful things to his community, the TIG community and to so many others around the world through our example. So Abatha, how will you contribute? With insensitivity and immaturity, or with thought and compassion?

Goddessabatha -

You need to relax, take a breath.

I actually saw those planes hit the towers with my bare eye - I walked ground zero the next morning - it is forever etched in my memory - and of course I'll never forgive the terrorists who hijcked the planes - or trained them - or planed the attack - but you are talking about a handful of people - not the entirety of Arab culture.

If the terrorists caused you to hate all Arabs indescriminantly then they have won their victory with you.

The "US" vs "THEM" mentality causes endless conflict - this habit we have of stigmitizing and dehuminizing other groups of people.

Most Afghanis are victims of the Taliban and Al Qada - so why do they need your hatred on top of the brutilization they have already suffered?

Cheets - some Palestinians were cheering in the streets on 9/11 - I remember seeing it and being terribly dissappointed.

Anyway I think oky-adrians song choice (which I had not heard before) was about an ideal rather than a reality - everyone recognises that universal love is not a reality right now - we are not all holding hands and singing we are the world - that doesn't mean it is not a worthwhile ideal that can be expressed in song.

actually Cheets you bring up a good point - 9/11 was a very emotional day and I distinctly remember images from Palestine of people cheering - firing weapons in the air ect.

I was like getting punched in the stomach and my knee jerk reaction was to expand my anger to all Palestinians and group them together. Of course I took a breath because of course these cheering people did not represent all Palestinians. Small highly vocal radical groups can somehow dominate our image of the culture that spawned them.

Many people I think take this attitude toward religious Christians because a few extremely conservative groups are highly vocal and active and intolorant. So people start seeing Christianity as a religion of intolorance.

The silent majority are allmost always rational and moderate - it is because they are rational and moderate that they are not jumping up and down on the streets on 9/11 and we don't see them on TV.

We share the commmon bond of both being human and living on Earth.. Is it up to me to make someone else happy? I dont know them, they defeinetly dont know me. They kill my people and I am supposed to forgive that. Look, I am not trying to whine about 9/11. But that was a big deal. You can't forget stuff like that. They HAD PARADES.. AND CELEBRATED when it happened. To me, you are being VERY disrespectful to say that it's "ok" to kill over 2,000 people and letting them got off free because, the simply don't like us.. Well..Perhaps you should put yourself in the position of the children of the people who were lost in 9/11. Do you suppose they have love for people from the countries that planned to kill their parents.. I dont suppose so..It REALLY frightens me that you think people can just forgive and forget. You cant forgive NOR forget that. And.. it seems that the USA ALWAYS***** rebuilds the cities we damage... waste of money if you ask me. We blew the cities up for a reason.. Its not important to love me, nor the United States, because they would tell you that in a heartbeat if it meant freedom.

sigh...

Abby, I think it is obvious you haven't traveled much outside the US. The first thing you see is that the more people change the more they stay the same. Your average person is the same the world over - they have the same basic fears and doubts, the same basic desires.

Differences are superficial - we are all human.

You keep using the word "they" - who are "they"?

At this point I would say we have killed well more than 2000 arabs over the course of 2 wars - and we certainly cheered our troops. Sure it is different because the US didn't actively target civilians - but... I haven't seen any of these scary weapons of mass destruction - have you?

If you really want a conflict between the West and Islam than you really want WW3 - a cataclismic struggle that will pull all of humanity into styfe and consume the world in chaos.

I think it is easier to try to learn about and respect those different from us than fight the war to end all wars. Even the Bush administraition understands the need to target hard core terrorists - not the average citizen.

The irony here Abby is that you sound just like those who hate Americans - only reversed - you sound like you were raised to hate arabs and your mentality is totally different from theirs.

don't you see that you are two sides of the same coin? You react to arabs with fear and ignorance - that is exactly how you accuse them of reacting to you - there is a viscious cycle at work here.

Cheets, I seem to think that you just don't want to believe they may have actually been happy when they killed 2,000 Americans. You keep debating how you think that it was just a few of them and not all. It may not have been all, but you definetly wouldn't see American's cheering in our streets if we kill 2,000 Arabs, now would you. Their mentality is completly different from ours, they were pretty much raised to hate Americans. It's really sad that you stand up more for the people who comitted these murders more than the victims. Don't you see, they will do it again, and next time they will do something worse. The whole world was crying, and they were cheering.
