Becoming a diplomat
September 29, 2009 - 05:39 PM

Greetings,

I have been wondering what it takes to become a diplomat for a while now and I decided to search around a bit but I have yet to find anything that answers my question well enough. I am 17 years old in grade 11, currently studying in Toronto. Recently a university came to visit us and I asked the person that represents the university what I would need to become a diplomat and she told me to take "international economics and finance" but I don't know what's the difference between that and simply foreign affairs.

I am fluent in English, French, Arabic ( I can pass a advance high school exam in any of these subjects) Hence my choice of profession that has to do with linguistics. I hope someone can enlighten me as to what it takes exactly to become a diplomat.. I love diplomacy but this interest is new to me so I dont know where to start

Thank you in advance

Regards,

Harris

Edit: If this was place in the wrong section please guide me to the right place for these kind of topics.
