It may be different for everyone, For me the reason we are here is to learn from the mistakes made in the past. To make things better for those in the future we need to study the past. Humans can have a tendency to forget what happened in the past (history) and then make the same mistakes all over again. The same groups of people who oppress us today, did so in the past. We need to question the power structure that keeps us powerless. Educate yourselves and pass the relevent knowledge on to future generations. Try not to make the same mistakes our parents did before us... Try to learn what you can from those who came before us...

A fundamental question, buddie!
Well, we are here as the trustees of the resources on Earth, responsible for how efficiently we used them including time, and how we treated each other, in the course of our lives. Simple but many do not understand.

I like to think we are here to improve things as much as we can for our current global community and future generations. I guess it is ultimately up to each individual to decide why they are here and how to act towards the goals they set for themselves.
Perhaps asking exactly why we are here misses the point. There doesn't seem to be an objective verifiable answer to the question. A more important question might be, now that we are here, how do we make things better?

Look around!
What do you see happening?
What do you like about it?
What do you dislike?
What can you do about it?
Who can help you do something about it!
Like you asked, Why are WE here ?
NOT, Why are you here!
WE ARE HERE FOR EACH OTHER ! WE ARE HERE TO HELP THOSE CHANGES BE MADE !
Just ask US, and we will help you see why you are here to ask.
