american dream is dead
September 15, 2009 - 12:18 PM

during ww11 in foxhokes and gun turrets the american dream was a rose-covered cottage with picket fence a front porch with asqueaky swing a shady street , bright and obedient children, camping trips, fising, the corner soda fountain and seeing your children taking part in school and church plays. this was depicted by Norman Rockwell and early family television shows.
now we have little condos, boom boxes blaring rap and rock, hot rods, drugs, alcohol, sheap sex, abortion, gund, hate and violence. nearly every sin is applauded on television talk shows. Is there still an American Dream?

I think your statement is correct, with one exception. I do not agree that "nearly every sin is applauded on television talk shows," as you say.

Granted, there are talk shows on radio and television that express divisive, hateful views and opinions, and they are certainly part of the problem. And I agree that in that sense they are sinful. But I still would not say they "applaud nearly every sin."

As for your question about the American Dream, I believe it is very much alive.

Of course, many bigots and hypocrites who claim to serve God and Country in the name of religion and patriotism have done terrible damage to the American Dream during the last 28 years. Nevertheless, the American Dream still lives on.

The American Dream envisions government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people. And while that has not yet been realized, it will be.

The American Dream envisions unity and equality, and equal rights of every person, every religion, every race, and every culture. And while that has not yet been realized, it will be.

The American Dream envisions a nation where the people cooperate and collaborate, and use the common wealth for the common good. And while that has not yet been realized, it will be.

That has been envisioned and foretold by Joseph J. Adamson, in his article titled How the Meek Shall Inherit the Earth.

Adamson has been writting under that pen name for many years. And, as of January 2009 he has revealed that he is a singer as well, who has released Songs of Liberation .

The financial markets are now in control of the economy and it is way more difficult to succeed as an entrepreneur. Those traders are making money with speculation and are not creating anything valuable for the society.
I also agree with your vision of the media and how the media manipulates people.

I do not think the American Dream is Dead

They still Dream of food on the Table
Education, a Home, and Medical

I think that the problem is that the Amercain Dream has not been Acheaved
Yet

They are still working it out
Medical
Education
Homes
Jobs
are still only for those who can afford it

and those who can not afford saftey
they join the Army

Or those people who still hold the American Dream have the Freedom to go hungery and homeless

But is it the Dream Has Died?

Or is it that the Willingness to Lead once A man comes into that much Power
to hard to do?

is it then a problem of Coruption?

Absolute power corupts absolutley

How easy it is
for people who gain high places

forget those who have put them at the top

and how esay it is at the Top to turn a blind eye on people who are beanth you

Yes, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And that is the problem.

That goes for individual leaders, but it also goes for nations. Many nations, (including the U.S.) have been corrupted at times, especially when they've indulged in military industrial imperialism at the expense of the exploited, victimized people in other countries.

As for the American Dream, it has unfortunately been distorted at various times, especially during the last 30 years. Consequently, people think it's about getting rich and having power, wealth and domain. In other words, it's about selfishness.

However, the real American Dream is about the opposite of that. It's about equality, fairness, sharing, cooperation, and collaboration. It's about ensuring that ALL the people enjoy life, liberty, prosperity, and well being.

Joseph J. Adamson envisions the fulfillment of the real American Dream for all people of the world. You can read about it at What IS the World Coming To? Seriously.

The 'American Dream' is far from dead! Myself and my neighbors are living it! Perhaps you need to relocate to where the American Dream is still running strong! Arizona!

It's good to be optimistic. I'll give you that.

Unfortunately, you are mistaken if you think the American Dream is being lived by most people in Arizona, or any other state.

In Arizona there were recently 30,104 Foreclosures, 11,292 Bankruptcies, and 40,257 Tax Liens.

Twenty percent of the children live in poverty, despite the fact that 78 percent of their families include at least one person working full time.

Most of us do not and cannot live the American Dream yet. But, it is still alive. We just need to reform our political-economic system so that it serves us all, rather than just the wealthiest few.

Read Poverty: America's Hidden Shame.

Strangely, Arizona could be the place as it is the state where a lot of the baby boomer retirees go in the winter in their motor homes with bumper stickers that read ' Spending the kids inheritance'.

It was in their generation where the American Dream was invented.

I enjoyed this post link, it was very enjoyable , fills the vision with indepentand truths and the spirit of Hope.

As for As for Arisona, I find the last posting of great humor, thinking of all those bumperstickers, that are mentioned

People are people,
And with that many Bank fallures, and the statiics quoted,
It makes it very clear why there House industry in Arazona would have so many homes on the marketcool

To my mind, No Dream should ever die!wink
It is life line to the Future
As Isaiah and all the Great Prophets of their day, in all the Great Religions knew, the Secert of a Human Heart
If you can Dream It, You Can Build it, and with the Voice of whay some call the Consceinse, and some call the Voice of God, Anything Can be achicved
Even the Great Prophets of our Day
Such a Martin Luther King.
He had Dream!

To the Future

I think the dream is dead for some. It's hard for the people who had to drop out of high school because there family needed them or for some other reason. Then turned around and did not work. And now have no work experience. What are they going to do. I don't think any one will hire them unless they know someone with the power to hire them. If not those are the one's that go homeless(Maybe).

American dream is ALREADY right here in this country. You can't prosper anything with a negative mind-set. You can't expect conditions change your situation but you can change the conditions by CHANGE your lifestyle. Be reality. I often hear atheists have a reasonable why they don't believe in an existence of God because God never be there for them or lacks of providable physically to meet their needs.

Government does not create American dream but rather to protect the rights of American dream for every individual(s). As John F. Kennedy preached, "What can you do for a country ?" His speech transcript - "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You speech" http://www.famousquotes.me.uk/speeches/John_F_Kennedy/5.htm

I'm very sorry if you disagreed with me but you CANNOT argue against the fact that you have a CHOICE. American dream NEVER be easy. Never ! But very worthy.

P.S.
You can't see a american dream with the eyes. But you can find the "frutis" of the american dreams with the mind.

I do not think the American dream is dead. I know many people who still come to the USA where they have opportunities not avaiable elsewhere-because of class, sexuality, ethnic background, etc. NYC is one huge example of that.

That said, I think the American dream is harder to achieve now, but a greater variety of people can achieve it.

The American dream is in danger, though, if the current backlash against people of color and other ethnic backgrounds gets stronger under the guise of "getting my America back."

Those are the most dangerous words I have heard lately--and they scare me.
