Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty

You can lend your support by taking part in a global movement called Stand Up & Take Action on October 16 - 18, 2009. Last year, 116 million people participated in Stand Up, breaking a Guinness Book of World Records. So why haven't you heard about? Because few people participated on this continent. This year, we're making a greater effort to spreading the word, with partners like the ONE Campaign, Jubilee USA and the YMCA, so there will be more events in the U.S. and Canada.
1 ) To join, find a local event on the website and literally "Stand Up" for a moment to speak out against poverty. The Stand Up website will feature photos of participants around the world, and we ask you to participate by spreading the word, blogging about the event, and taking photos and videos at the event. There is also an online avatar so you can Stand Up "virtually."
2) You're also encouraged to "Take Action" by organizing a food drive, meeting with a legislator, signing a petition, planting trees or other community project (you can see the website for more information).

Poverty is the burning and worldwide issue which should be discussed with focus and action should be taken. SO youth lets fight against poverty and give this world a new name. If we start today it will minimize tomorrow. So, lets go for it.
