Globalization opened enormous scope of opportunities and gateway to trade exchanges world over. Especially Asian and developing countries were in advantage to promote their sales and services to developed countries. Because of globalization developing countries easily could access to world market. Waving or minimal tariffs, quota, and anti-dumping restrictions from developed countries managed easy exports of textiles, service sectors, small and cottage industries, mine and minerals, and so on. These sectors generated massive employment opportunities to literate and semi literate population. Globalization also helped multinational chains to invest in developing countries. Globalization too had a positive effects on poverty minimizing, especially India, china, whose rural population were living under savior poverty. Globalization accelerating migration from rural villages. Neglecting rural and researched based education weakening prolific purpose of globalization as rural inhabitants, poor and illiterates are not involved in Globalization process.

There is a dark and negative side to "globalization," which we must be aware of and address.

In certain instances, globalization amounts to Neo-Imperialism, which has enabled huge mega-corporations in the U.S. and other industrialized nations to exploit people in "third world" countries.

Just to cite one example, the agriculture mega-businesses have created monopolies and have put many familiy farmers out of business, raised food prices, and decreased the quality of our food.

There are many other examples that reveal that so-called "free trade agreements" have really meant license to exploit and monopolize.

Granted, there may be some positive effects of the globalization movement, but it is inaccurate to claim that it has reduced poverty in any significant way. In fact, in many ways it has caused more problems.

As Joseph J. Adamson tells us, American big businesses, corporations, and the WTO (which serves American and European corporate interests) have a particularly appalling record on the critical issues of labor rights, environmental protection, public health protection, national sovereignty protection, and democratic accountability, and this has gotten increasingly worse during the last twenty-five years. While the global free market does a great job creating a world-wide supply and demand for products and services, it simultaneously undermines the ability of nations and societies to meet the most vital needs of the majority. In fact, the prospects for democracy in the world are damaged when the United States, the largest economic power in the world, touts and exports an economic model based on permissive, laissez-faire non-interference by government in business practices. In other words, that American economic model virtually ties the hands of the people and the government, and it gives license and too much power to corporations. It negates most of government’s responsibility for establishing proper regulations and ensuring corporate responsibility and accountability.

That is quoted from Adamson's Memoirs, and his web site is What IS the World Coming To? Seriously.

Globalisation and urbanisation means rape and pillage of any country.

Let's face it, the only thing any global company is interested in is the bottom line.

This means that they want to strip out the natural resources, iron ore, bauxite, diamonds, etc., for peanuts, normally giving the politicians back handers into untraceable Swiss or somewhere bank accounts, ship it off to their processing plant and make big profits.

To make themselves look good, they pay, probably one of their subsidiary companies to do some improvements to the local infrastructure. A few roads, houses with water and electricity where probably the government ministers relatives move into and everyone has a great photo opportunity.

20 years down the line, the country wakes up, finds it has no more natural resources and a huge social need.

Welcome to globalisation. (PS this is also the reason why when you spell globalisation with an s instead of a z you get a red line under it. The bastardised form of English as dictated by American Corporations via their spell check, which lazy, criminal teachers are relying upon instead of the Oxford Dictionary are becoming the norm.)
