Idea: Trade Embargo for the DR of Congo

The ongoing Kivu conflict in the DR of Congo has been going on since the First Congo War, and continues to this day. "Africa's Great War" despite claims of ending in 2003 is currently continuing in this resource rich region of the shattered nation. Probably the most embarassing part of this conflict is that Western firms, particularly those involved with electronics have invested in both belligerents in the conflict, giving both sides money, which is then used for arms. These firms are not ignorant and know where the money is going, but because of the wealth in the region these companies continue to take full advantage of the minerals they harvest, while NONE of these companies gives any aid to the region they deprive. While a trade embargo, which prohibits companies from doing business in the country doesn't solve the problem, it can reduce the intensity of the fighting as now the combatants will have less funds to continue their conflict. The EU, and NAFTA should both consider this if they truely care about the casualties which since 1998 has reached over FOUR MILLION, the most casualties since the Second World War.

The companies involved in trade in RDC should be blacklisted, and a campaign started to prevent any transactions with those companies.
