The buzz is all around the term "social innovation". What is social innovation to you? What do you think it means for nonprofits and NGOs?

As a social entrepreneur myself, i feel social innovation is the ability or inspiration to create positive ideas or things that may be of relevance to society. this means that one must not be static in thinking or doing things but rather be always prepared to innovate or improvise so as to meet the needs of society or effect positive changes.

Globalization is rapidly making the World into a melting pot of cultures. Though much of the world has gained from this, complicated social unrest because of lack of awareness and trust in certain communities still prevail. Some more are deveoping by the day.
Social Innovation is a creative & productive attempt at peaceful & prosperous unification of the hitherto divided mankind.

the innovation should target the needy and poor out-there. for example you can re-invent something that is mostly available to the rich and make it affordable to the poor as well while still performing the basic need
