The Fight for Water May Be Closer Than You Think.

Some people think the next world war will be over water not oil and there is becoming more and more information to make this a viable theory.
Given that Israel is using so much water that the Dead Sea should now be called the Dead Lake as it has shrunk so much, just like the Aral Sea. The aquafers there are disappearing at an alarming rate.
Over in America at the Hoover Dam, the water is at an all time low, thanks to keeping all those golf courses green and there are more battles going on thanks to the bottled water brigade.
As there are not enough springs and other natural water sources, the Multi-nationals are either taking water from the nation system (CocaCola tried this in the UK but we ran them out of town) or they bore down into a good water source and suck everything out regardles of the local populace.
This makes interesting reading :-

Now if they can do this in one of the most sofisticated countries of the world, what on earth is happening in the less policed areas of the world?
It is up to you brothers and sisters to be vigilant and let us know what is going on.

Wow. It is certainly ironic to think that, while the poles are melting and sea levels are rising, there may be serious conflicts in the near future over water. But what about improvements in technology? Desalination plants could easily be used in developed countries, couldn't they? For poorer nations, such technology is difficult to access. It seems like for many of the western countries, this crisis should not be that difficult to resolve since we are wasting so much water--all we have to do is stop wasting it! Perhaps stricter environmental policies should come into play. Maintaining population is also key to resolving this water crisis. All we need now is motivation.....

Hello,
here is one of example of water conflict (not only between countries, but it is also concerned the sustainable development of the Tigris region and environment as well). See the message below, and help to distribute a petition.
We, people should think first, then do. It is not Iraqi problem only, it affects a huge region, where the luck of water in a such important river like Tigris could be a real problem.
What does it mean? - less water in Tigris will be a cause of dryness of soil, salinization of soil, and as a result - huge territory will be turn into a desert with sand storm (twisters). Did you notice that sand storm became more often in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Emirates.. so these two rivers - Tigris and Euphrates are really important for environment of the huge territory of Middle East, including Asian part of Turkey and Arabian peninsula..
BELOW IS THE PETITION.PLEASE READ AND CONSIDER IT! LET'S SAVE OUR PLANET!
Hello everybody! We Iraqi people, environment and World heritage need your help! Could you help please with a petition against constructing a dam on Tigris river in TURKEY.
You can find the form in English, Turkish and German
Please help us to save TIGRIS!!

The fight for water is already here. In Africa water is a limited resource and wars have erupted to control it. These civil wars that we see on T.V. are caused by continued pressure on unfit governments to supply safe drinking water to the public. This is just the beginning. it is widely known that Earth has only one percent of fresh drinking water. When you split that up the water is consumed at a much faster rate. This leaves some countries in control of what is left of their water. Ironically these countries are the ones with booming populations, such as China, India, U.S.A., etc. Those left with water are too greedy to share it and so are considered as enemy. They are soon targeted and attacked. Of course, as you can see on the nets and vids, all out war has not yet come forth, but these mounting pressures will soon break through and then, well who knows what will be left.

Pakistan is the victim of water war...
India has blocked the water of Pakistan by building dams on the Pakistan's Rivers. It is the open disagreement of Indus-Basin treaty in 1960.

Hey we are a lush green country in New Zealand, but we too have serious issues regarding water supply. True we are not at war over it, and what we do have is very clean, however demand on water and careless use, combined with hot dry summers has led to water bans. Population growth and poor management means our town is faced with annual water shortages. It is time to start thinking...locally, globally. The water on the planet is all already here...there is no more.

Yes we will have to fight for water very soon as the majority of the world population is wasting water.....
So it is our duty to protect water.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets make our mother Earth a better place

the big players in the business, such as coke or anything else are in a position to control the local governments. Now it is up to the public to react to this type of situation and make a clear statement of whats happening to their life. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Defensive Driving Texas

The soft drinks industry certainly is a problem as they drill wells and drain the water table to make Coke and Pepsi. The dairy industry places a huge strain on water supplies. Here in the UK, they are starting to recycle water. Apart from the fact that cows drink an awful lot, there is a huge amount of water used to chill the milk and also to clean up after milking.
There has been many droughts happening and then the rain that comes is often in huge amounts that do not replenish the ground but flow straight to the sea.
Desalination is only part of a solution, you need to be near the sea and have access to a vast amount of electricity to make it work. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jo Devizes knows a womens website that is rather good.

what is happening in this world due to water shortage and what we see everyday.. of what countries do and even individuals sometimes.
The Palestinian Prime minister said that water is one of basic foundations to ensure palestine Independence and vitality.
just to know that the the consumption of water in palestine and israel is 13 to 1
for israel... they are controlling all water resources! and just to tell not only in palestine!
wars will be happening for water... we saw what the african countries did with the Nile and i think it's their right.. egypt is consuming 80% of it's water...
africa is dealing with major problems one of them is water... and soon to spread all over the world!
and just to mention! i guess they are trying to kill the dead sea! sorry! dead lake
i just wish these people and countries which keep destroying our nature... to be stopped in someway..

I think my friend you could almost call it the Dead Puddle.
I saw an article where a hotel owner showed the jetty where his guests would walk along to get into the water. Now he has to drive them for 20 minutes to reach the water.
The same goes on in the Aral Sea, I think, boats are marooned miles from the water. This means that the bio diversity is dieing as pesticides, herbicides and all of mans other filth flow into a body of water that is rapidly diminishing, making it more susceptable as there is less water to dilute it.
Has no one who lives around the seas ever questioned what is going on ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jo Devizes knows a womens website that is rather good.

Water!!! Trees!!! Oxygen!!! Yes. what you are saying is the truth.
But Time Changes EVERYTHING. Humans have the ability to take and destroy. Man has the ability to fix and employ thought. Water is never Lost. Water is just placed from one place to another.
Here is another True Truth. Through heat most materials can be returned to their elemental forms, separated, and once again used. I am not saying that the world would be as clean as if there where no humans. BUT a world without humans?
Everyone does what they need to do. The World is filled with self-interest. My self-interest is having a better world to live in so I spend all of my time with my inventions. There is enough Energy in the Ocean Current next to California and the Mexican Baja Peninsula to RUN all electrical and mechanical needs of the whole U.S.A. What I am saying is 24 hours a day leave the lights on no problem. From Ocean Energy the Water can be Moved through Pipes and made Potable through many ways as the main need is just Energy. With Energy once water is cleaned water can be separated into Hydrogen for Use and the Oxygen could be let out into Cities to replace tree oxygen. Oxygen and Hydrogen in a stokyometric solution makes Browns Gas which has many uses...
Basically what I am saying is that the Ocean CAN be Cleaned. Water can be provided to the 1 Billion People who do not have Potable Water. Food could be Grown from the Energy while transforming Energies as the Soil itself is great for cleaning water before going back into the Ocean. Machines can do the Work once made! There is nothing to stop Machines from Building Machines which is just another way of saying Manufacturing which has the most valuable ingredient
at the beginning of the word. MAN-ufacturing. Machines will work all night and all day for Humanity. The only Problem is the IN-GREEDY-GENTS!
I am doing as much as I am able. Too little too late? No. Every day is the same new Chance.

Surely, this is well said. Everywhere in the globe, people are in need for more water as the population is increasing. In East Africa, there are ongoing negotiations on the use of R. Nile where there is a treaty that is in fight to break where other countries above Egypt could also use the waters. In addition, for Kenya and Ethiopia, the two are negotiating on the Ethiopia move to construct a hydro power station at R.Omo which might lead to dropping if not drying of L. Turkana. All these are symbolic of war for water. On oil, the innovation of electric and hybrid cars have cleared any doubt of need for more oil reserve. Actually, oil demand is now reducing with time due to climate change campaign. Now its on technology that would provide adequate clean water as a great welcome.

Let me clarify what I said just a little... I did say that Machines were capable of Energy Production that would SOLVE the Water Problem. There would be no more shortage. What I was also trying to say is that the Machines I have invented are way beyond the Modern known Methods which are called Wind Turbines for the Wind which Mine produce 200 times the Torque allowing for incredible Electricity generation in the order CONSERVATIVELY 5,000% to 20,000% more Electricity than what is currently out there in what is called Modern. My Ocean Current systems are MUCH MORE powerful than my Wind System as Water Weight per Cubic Foot vs. a Cubic Foot weight for Air is HUGE. 10ft.Cubed = 64,200 Pounds of Weight! for Ocean Water. At 10 miles per hour in one hour WOW!
If only I had a little help. But here in the U.S. of the Wonderful NO ONE gives me a hand EVER! Everyone is always checking what I do so I Prototype and DESTROY my working Prototypes. Seems and sounds selfish EVEN TO ME! But to let others take the ideas just to further control the world as all ideas have been used for thousands of years would just destroy my Idealistic Dream that keeps me Inventing for a future where people would help each other WILLINGLY while cleaning the physical World.
One Day... Maybe... Maybe Not... The Ideas are here and I would have given them away long ago but to get told one day that I can't make my own ideas because someone else says NO! Nada... It will happen... Whatever... I will keep Inventing as I see too much more to Test Out.

Desalination is one of several technologies that tie together water demands and energy demands. While it's possible to desalinate water anywhere, it's highly energy intensive - so in addition to the cost limit which restricts the technology to wealthier nation, there's an energy restriction. Conveniently (in some ways), some of the areas that need water most are on the edge of deserts. Some of the countries on the arabian peninsula are putting in serious desal plants while simultaneously installing solar generation to run them. Similar restrictions and connections between water and energy happen with desert cities like Phoenix - we can clean the wastewater and reuse it, but it takes a lot of energy.
My worry is for places like Africa and Pakistan (which others have mentioned) where the competition for water quantity (regardless of quality) goes across country lines, like with the Nile. Even if, through efficiency and good practice, all of the people and agriculture dependent on those rivers can be satisfied, I worry that no one will look at how much water the ecosystem that those areas are (however indirectly) dependent on needs. They need to not only form decent treaties for their population, but also be willing to set aside enough water to sustain aquatic populations - and fix the problem that the Colorado and Nile rivers don't reach the sea.
