One child or more?
July 16, 2009 - 09:53 PM

With a lifestyle that’s very demanding on working parents, many couples are opting for just one child. This enables them to give their child a better life, but the child will also miss the opportunity of having siblings and a bigger family to count on in the future. Do you think having on child is the perfect option in such demanding times or do you think a child needs siblings? Why?

A knotty problem for sure. Here in the UK people are becoming ever more insular and isolated so that having more than one sibling would be a good thing for the children themselves and to a certain extent for the parents as they can have a 'rest' when the children play together.

In terms of the global resources and the climate, one is going to be much better as population control is one of the best routes to reducing climate change.

I think that having one child is truly an injustice that the child will grow up without siblings, because the presence of brothers helps to give greater confidence Bnevspo and must not fear of the cost of living because they are in the care of God

Truly, This is unfair, One Child? No it can't happen. I don't think how the world would be if our parents were to give birth to one child,or otherwise you may not have been there.

Though the tradition in the world is changing, but we still can't base on these changes very much.

The bible wrote "Go into the world and multiply and fill the world" How dare are you to fay that one child? More children, i say! sadwink

Well friends, it appears that China is at least considering allowing couples to have more than one child because they are worried that they will not have enough workers in the future.
Like all countries, smaller family sizes with an aging population means a smaller number of people having to pay for a larger number of old age pensioners.

In third world countries larger families are needed because infant mortality is still much higher there and they do not have pensions and good health care and old peoples homes. They need a family structure to take care of them in their dotage.

There is also less mechanization, so that people power are needed to work the land.

Personally I am not having children so I am doing my part, or maybe I am not.
