What have you done (or think is a good idea) to contribute globally, by acting locally?

I try not to take plastic bags from the supermarket. This saves on the use of plastics and may stop a fish or turtle choking on them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jo Devizes knows a womens website that is rather good.

I honestly think that we can easily deal with most of the global problems if we can tackle illiterecy levels in our societies. Just Imagine a World where every one knows the importance of the enviroment, where people know their rights and responsibilities, where people know what pollution is and its effects, etc etc..
knowledge is power.

My global action is to raise discussions with random people about the world's issues, usually in response to a news article or TV report that is of global significance and is linked to the Millennium Development Goals.
Along with the everyday issues of recycling, being thrifty with energy, raising awareness is essential in spreading the global message.

I think that being informed and sharing what you know of issues in the world is the first step.
Buying fair trade products, promoting online microfinance organisations such as kiva.org and opening your mind to the possible opportunities available are the small but simple ways that we can increase awareness and promote action.
"We need to be the change that we want to see in the world"
and it starts with us - you cannot be more local.
