a call for stories/studies that highlight real human situations.
We are looking for success stories about communities in which the sanitation and hygiene situations improved; how people integrated the importance of these issues and how they have been creative in finding solutions to their problems.
We also welcome stories which convey the real need of people for safe sanitation and good hygiene.
Please send your comments, texts, stories, and photos to wsscc@who.int during the month of July. They can be written in English, Spanish, French and Russian. Please indicate in the subject line of the e-mail "field story for the wsscc website". Stories should be no more than 300 words; some tips and tricks for writing good case studies are listed below.
The WSSCC Communications team.
Qualities of a Good Case Study
Case studies are records of innovative or good practice. They record specific problems or issues experienced by a person or a group and the actions taken to overcome the problems. Their purpose is to promote these actions to others. They are often used where there have been limited solutions found to a particular problem. Case studies generally report factual information as well as opinions (good and bad). In presenting case studies, ensure that language styles, reading levels and format design are appropriate for the target group. Case studies have these strengths:
Ø provide real examples
Ø encourage replication
Ø are generally practical in nature
Ø provide innovative ideas.
