President Barack Obama visits Africa, snubs Nigeria

It’s pretty good for Nigeria to know when she's snubbed, that evinces her self-consciousness. It’s also quite human to express our feelings when we feel hurt. But I think it’s a bit puerile to brood over such phenomena. It’s even worse if we react to them by pointing accusing fingers against people and events. Obviously, faced with all these trying situations neatly x-rayed above, we cannot fold our arms. But rather than fix blames and prophesy doom on ourselves, we should encourage one another to contribute positively in fixing our problems. We shouldn't constitute ourselves into enemies of hope, or even allow our hope as a people to be crippled by other people’s seemingly unsuitable attitude towards us. As a matter of fact, the Obama phenomenon is challenging us to put our house in order or lose our worth in the international arena.

If Obama reason(s) for sunbing Nigeria has to do with corruption and democracy then there is no convincing fact in it. From time immemorial the world has known Nigeria for her different corrupt practices and also, he cannot help us if he continues to distance himself from us due to our incompetent. My opinion is, if he truly cares for Africa he shouldn't judge us based on our weakness rather he should focus on aspect of forging ahead. Obama, Nigerians greatly love you.

President Obama cannot visit all African countries at the same time. Certainly he must choose one of the 53 African countries. I cannot agree with you less that, it is a call to put our house in order. Nigeria has some challenges and this challenges cannot go in one day. We all must make effort in our little way to change things Ghana needs to be congratulated she has indeed become a model in Africa by deepening democracy and it's ideals. Nigeria too will get there. Remember just forty years ago people like Obama are not allowed to run for public office in America. This was over a hundred years after America's Independence. With time America overcame that challenge. I am not making excuses for Nigeria. There should be no reason for our failure to conduct free and fair election, fight corruption effectively, create wealth for our people and economic prosperity for our nation. The fact that we have failed to do this is a challenge that can be surmounted.I also believe that Nigeria is not as bad as She is being portrayed. We have to carry the message of the new and positive Nigeria.
GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simon James
