Well! this is quite debatable even without considering any religion.
If we want our society to be of good conduct and sound health, an act such as having sex with whomever or whenever one wants would be a depravity. And the depravity applies equally to both men and women.

Pro-choice does NOT mean anti-life.
Sex is a natural act. Even with condoms and birth control, a woman can still get pregnant. How is it fair to force that woman to keep a child if that woman took all the available precautions? Simply saying, "well if you don't want a child then don't have sex", is extremely irrational. Yes, some people do abuse the power of abortion, and are having unprotected sex and using abortion as a birth control. But there are people who do everything in their power to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and still end up pregnant. You cannot take away THEIR rights.
In this argument, there are two sides of the debate-
The first side says: it is your right to do what you want, whether it be to abort or not to abort. It is NOT saying YES ABORTIONS ARE GREAT EVERYONE SHOULD GET ONE!
The second side says: we don't support it so nobody should be allowed to do it.

Sister Justine!
Uncontrolled sexual urge and the subsequent succumbing of either sexes to them is the root of the evil of unwanted conceptions.
As rational beings, we are aware of what's good for us and what's not. Is unbridled sex with anyone at anytime without any ties (marital)good for the individual or for the society as a whole? The answer is obvious.
I agree with the passions of the youth. But, if we do not know how to control the fires of passions, we would destroy ourselves in the uncontrolled flames of unwanted consequences.
We are responsible for whatever we do. If one indulges in a sexual act for fun, gets pregnant and in the eyes of the society, still wishes to remain a virgin, whom is she bluffing? Herself. Whom is she killing? Herself. The image of her love in her womb.
So, if people get married early and keep themselves faithful to their spouses, this problem of unwanted motherhood or unwanted children is eliminated once and for all.

I wasn't necessarily just talking about young people, and if people married young just so they could have sex the divorce rate would likely climb, and lead to many other troubles, both personal and public, such as financial problems. Not every young person having sex is just going on a sex rampage only looking to satisfy their urges. I completely agree that some people are doing that, and personally I would not do it, but it is none of my business if somebody chooses to. There are many cases in which a married woman may become pregnant and still not wish to have the child. She could want to work, or further her education, or maybe she simply does not feel it is the right time for her to be a mother. What if she took the necessary precautions and still became pregnant? Would it still then be wrong for her to have sex, even if she was married and faithful, and simply just did not want a child? Would it still be wrong for her to get an abortion? Although some people may have sex for the wrong reasons, and unsafe sex at that, and then some women become pregnant due to their own carelessness, there are still those people who are careful and do it for the right reasons, and still wish to have an abortion.

Yes! She has the choice of terminating the pregnancy but within 40 days of conception. You are right, Justine. I agree with you.

I believe that abortion is a woman's right. Although it is very controversal because it is techniacally killing a human with out consent, it is sometimes necessary. If a baby is born into a family that can't support it, it will only grow up possibly having more problems with society. There is adoption, but i still think that the woman has a choice!

I'm a catholic, so I think abortion is wrong if the woman became pregnant for being careless. However, there are some circumstances in which abortion should be allowed, for example if there was a rape. There is always adoption, but I wouldn't want to have a baby whose father hurt me and I wouldn't know what kind of genes or diseases the baby can be born with, but that's just my opinion..

I think abortion is a decision that needs to be made privately by the pregnant women. She is the one that has to endure the health risks of being pregnant and carry the burden of raising the child or giving the child up for adoption when born. If the woman doesn't think she can handle either of these (financial, health, age, means of conception, etc..) she should have the right to make a decision regarding her body.

Yes Caroline! And it would be safe for her to terminate pregnancy within 6 weeks of conception and also without any guilt, (provided she is a married woman with a sound mind).

ABORTION IS MURDER
i dont care of the way you became pregnant i stick by my guns aborting an unborn child is MURDER, if you dont want to have kids DONT HAVE SEX its as simple as that.
There are so many couples out there that would make loving parents and are unable to have children and you get the likes of some who have babies left right and centre and give them up or abuse them or just abandon them and others that think that an abortion solves the problem.
Just remember one thing for every action there is a reaction.

Sex is a private affair, and there are many couples, even married, who engage in sex that do NOT wish to have children. Neither you nor the government can regulate who has sex and when, and as sex has been a natural act since the beginning of time, it is irrational to suggest and impossible to enforce upon those who do not want children to not have sex.

Point taken but then having sex (unprotected) runs the risk of falling pregnant, if you dont want kids whats the only other alternative dont have sex or get yourself fixed, simple solution to the problem

with that said, rape is sex you telling me thats natural and government or myself should remain silent about that, murder is not a natural thing, if you are old enough to have sex you are old enough to accept the reality of the fact you may fall pregnant fine government or myself can not enfourse who has sex and when but then if you choose not to want kids get yourself fixed therefore the option of abourtion, or murder as i see it, is not an option. i chose to have 2 children after my second i had myself fixed see simple silution dont want more kids happily married with 2 kids, got myself fixed so there are no accidental preganancies or unwanted pregnancies for me.

I agree that unprotected sex is wrong, but even protected sex runs the risk of falling pregnant. It is not fair to those who take all the necessary precautions and do not want children to be forced to keep a child if this happens.
I personally don't think abortion is right either, and I would never get one. If I was married and didn't want kids, I too would practice safe sex and simply me or my husband get "fixed". However, I do stand pro-choice, because the argument is simply one of opinion. Just because I feel a certain way doesn't mean I can restrict others' rights. Since there is no way to scientifically prove that the baby at the time of conception is "alive", there is really no way to legitimately classify it as "murder".
