Since I lived in Korea a little over a year, that is the country that comes to mind for me when I hear about Asia. I still keep up with colleagues and friends I made there.

.. thanks for the post.. never been to korea but i have quite lots of friends there..and surely want to visit Seoul and Chejudo oneday
.. a French guy told me that when he heard of Asian the first feelings that comes to him is that Asian people are very close...
when it comes to Asia and Asian people, besides some particular countries that come to your mind, is there any special feelings or impression comes to your mind about Asian ?
what about Asian tiggers? :
what Being An Asian Youth means to you?
is it a too difficult question for us Asian people?

What being ASIAN means to me..

What being ASIAN means to me..
I come from Malaysia.. The First thoughts are of China & India; it spans [the thoughts] to the intense gap within nations as such and their wealth and poverty levels; yet its untouched beauty that has spanned dynasties of rulers and emperors.. where eva theres a mix of culture..
Its not new that ASIANs choose to move to countries [western] for better prospects; a new life; no more subjugation..
howeva, when i think ASIAN my reassurerance zone [thoughts] are Malaysia;
not because its My Country of Origin but because.. of its familiarity of people.
The warmth has no boundaries..
The harmony consist of 3 main religions and other religions as well as ethnic groups that span through 14 states.
When i look at India and Pakistan now.. i think about my Moslem friends my close very tight bond with the few and also those who are Indian Moslems.. ive got a close knit of friends
[10 people – now spanning several countries] that range from Moslems, Chinese, Indians, Christians, Sikhs, IndianMoslems!
Weve grown together very close, theres always someone for another.. issues are debated be it religion to the Sept 11th Massacre! Our shared voices are bold, we learn each others religion while patronizing ours.. !
Nope, religion does not hit me when i think of the word ASIAN; but the union we face.. its unbreakable. I believe that and being 22 i know its not a childhood intuation.. its reality at its best and worst.. !
I don’t remember saying im proud to be a Malaysian.. eva; but im happy above all to be amidst different cultures, a range of celebration.. not forgetting the array of food..!
To me today, being ASIAN is about the cultural bonds that we have built over the years and been instilled with added with a NewAge approach to harmony..!
However, when you glimpse at the world at disraught now be it in ASIA or around..
you’ve got the world Afghanistan, America, Britain, India, Pakistan, Argentina, Kosovo all revolting agianst theselves.. they have forgotten the importance or the delicateness of life.. the similiarity of themselves only caged by culture and religion.. they have forgot.. ..
Maybe someday, people will realise.. but it could be too late.
Ive gone awry through my context i hope i could have written longer.. i might just do that though.. soon[hopefully].
GOD BLESS!
Mals..

what does being an asian mean to me....
asia is the best place to be born in.
i mean, you wont get a culture like this anywhere outside asia.
asia has the richest culture and the oldest civilizations.
the strength of our civilization is clear from the fact that, even after being invaded over and over, like first from induvidual invaders like alexander, babar and genghis khan, etc. and then, systematically looted by westerners, who came in as traders, but ended up forming their colonies here and looting away what ever they could...
but still we very much exist, dont we.
one thing they couldnt invade is our civilization, our culture (atleast not until recently)
ya, i know i tend to write too much about anything, i know, so, to cut it short, i fell very proud to be an asian. and if theres only one reason i am supposed to give for this pride, it would be the strength of our civilization.

I think people from all over the world are giving a good responce to this thread.
if they are foreigners, they tend to look at asia as mainly india and china (quite unjust though, i feel), and if they are asian, then they naturally talk of their place.
we would like to hear some vietnami opinion over 'what it feels like to be asian', wont we (atleast i would)
come on angel, what do you feel like being an asian. why in the world did you come up with a topic like this. There must be some thinking going on in your head. Tell it to us.

Human species, distant brothers and sisters and cousins.
Same blood, same problems. Same air water food energy to sustain and maintain life.
What is asian? One globe. D.N.A. says we the same. Once upon a time we took a different path and encountered different obstacles, now, global, all the same problems and obstacles. We just do not want to admit it or the leaders are coaxed not to. In the best interest of "country".
Unfortunate not globe man and life interest!
Stupid man the fool.

well,
when i hear the word "Asian", because of my relation with my country afghanistan, it comes to my mind, then, because of the problems in this region, i wait for the person to condemn them (obviously it depends on the person talking and his ideas). because afghanistan, pakistan, india, china, north korea, middle east, central asia, iran, iraq, all are problamatic for some people, and good for others.
hope u got ur answer?
