Self Aggrendizement

I have been thinking seriously of late about Violence in the world. Today I woke up to news of Americans and South Koreans being at level two of alertness due to threats from N.Korea.
What is the cause of all these troubles? My guess is that all is rooted in self aggrandizement. self aggrandizement here is taken to simply mean; each person thinks he or she is better than all the rest in the world. Then each clan thinks it is better than all the clans in the world. then each tribe thinks it is better than all tribes in the world. I bet each race imagines it is better off or more important than any other race in the world. Some writers and scientists have come out openly postulating that especially the race they belong to is better or more intelligent than other races. Each society or country wants to be the most important in the world.
Recently, we had political violence in Kenya due to a botched election. Well, apart from some injustices in terms of historical inequitable distribution of resources, the conflict was largely pegged on Self Aggrandizement.
I hear Israelis are keen on expanding in West Bank while doing all they can to push Palestinians into a tight corner. Don't you think self aggrandizement applies here more acutely because Israelis see themselves as the chosen ones of Yahweh?
Then there is America and all the anti West sentiments from extremist elements in the Arab world!
Why are people so keen on wanting to proof they are better and more important than others? why cant people just embrace each other with mutual respect? If you agree with me on Self Aggrandizement as being at the heart of world conflicts, how best should we approach World Peace as a consern?

Thank you colleague for such straight talk.
There is nothing more than the word SELF AGGRENDIZEMENT. it is the correct word you used to discribe all the mess happening in the world today.
All the problems we are fronted with today are caused by nothing but self aggrendizement just for the interests of these so called failed leaders.
please let us don't give up but that we should stand up and speak loud on the issues that are actually eaten the fabrics of our societies today.

Just read your reply and I feel encouraged. You propose that the best way to deal with Self Aggrandizement is through people speaking out and pointing out ills.
That is a sure way because only awareness can enforce required sensitization about mutual respect; away from self renting and perpetuation.
I wonder, how can Al Shaabab friends be helped to understand that seeking self importance will not get somalia anywhere. How do we effectively communicate the same and induce this understanding in say the North Korean leader or the Israel Prime Minister or Hamas? or Even our super power leaders?

It is encouraging to know that The Israel PM might be keen on acknowledging an independent Palestinian state.
People need to get it: Violence against an aggressor may be good for the purposes of self-defense, However, aggression of any form does not yield much in the long run; it only creates more helplessness, alienation and disillusionment in the world.
Understanding is key to dealing with self aggrandizement; Obama seems to have the kind of understanding that is worthy emulating.
