Who do you think is the Leader of a family?
May 12, 2009

usually people say that the Father is the leader. But, let's see it this way: the mother always has strong emotional bonds with her children, she helps them in their everyday life, she gides them to the path of their future, she leads them to become more responsible. She plans and organises her houses and take care of her husband. She takes control 80% of the expenses of her house. So, as we analysed, we can see that the mother is the leader of the household.

well.. thats in our arab community because we have been raised to deal with the man is the leader of the house just because he is the man and of the boundaries they keep women inside..

not all the time it's the man... not all the time it's the woman...
and in some families they all discuss and decide what they want...

leader of the family... depend on the community and the thoughts people have
also what role the woman and the man take in every thing

but women are more emotional than men... and in leadership you need to think more than feel
and thats what's in men

I think leadership in a family vary due to the different forms of cultural believes and practices around the world.
Besides the above, I believe either a man or woman could be the leader of the family depending on the execution of their obligations to their family.

you are kind of right. In the community that i am lving, the man rules the woman in a way that he obliges her to do whatever he wants but in financial way the woman is responsible

Yeah, it depends upon the culture of the particular place...Like in Nepal Father is the leader....but with the homes who dont have fathers are led by mother or eldest son.....if there is no son then daughter leads....

But the pick of the point is that both father and mother should have the same responsibility and let not their children know who is the leader.....I mean there should be equity in decision making and monilization of the rights equally!!!!!!

In my opinion or in a logic way there must be a total agreement in the family without any leadership. The parents put the rules or make plans for their life and all the family has to follow the rules without esception.

A woman. She may not be the visible face, but from what I've seen women rule the family. They influence every decision, take a strong stand for what is important to the family and are emotionally tough. Its rare that women don't take the important decisions or play a major role in the family. Men may be protector, breadwinner, but still that doesn't mean that women take a backseat.

The leader of the family, no matter if it a split family, a family with no children, etc, is the most mature, wise, and careful one. Rarely, the leader is an immature adventure seeker, people tend to follow these kinds of "leaders" because it's funner and doesn't require so much beforehand work and time.

women keep money of the family. But on the whole, that is not their money. They can not use as much as they want. Most people think that men are the leader of the family and everything goes as they think.
however I also have seen the leaders of the families are women who really have right in the family and make the members respect them as well.
In any cases, being a leader needs to have the characters of a leader...

Families are made up of people.

Each person has a right to be both a member and, as appropriate, a leader.

Every family member encounters the same lifetime situation: Birth, Lifespan, Death.

In between the two endpoints each and every human being deserves respect, love, caring and protection of basic human rights.

Like ABC4All Mentors do, we can learn from one another. No one has all the answers, and everyone can have good ideas.

The saying goes, from "The King and I," if you are a teacher, by your pupils you'll be taught.

Francine Jarry sums it up in her moving original song/video: "The Children Are The Guardians Of The World."

The family, when it can exist as a unit, can be a productive social unit for all involved. There is every support proposed that, as better conditions can be created in the world, so too, can the family unit (of whatever type), be supported and welcomed as a constructive unit in societies of diverse cultures across the world.

Without controversy, and with utmost firmness, the man, traditionally (leaning heavily on history), is the head of the family. This role was given to him from when he came into being...absolutely from his creator and progenitor. Traditionally, the first creature (male man) is the head...and the creature out of the male man - woman - the second creation, plays a less dominant role in terms of leadership only.
