it is sad to say that globalization has somehow erased traditions and some parts of culture. people tend to adopt the western way of life and forget the traditions they have.

I think globalization as caused more good than harm because it has really made the entire earth conscious of its abilities and its disabilities as regards ECONOMIC,GEOGRAPHY, AND SOCIAL balances.

The issue is that how well are we accepting and integrating it into our culture and believes?

We really need to learn about that.

Globalization has a both negative and positive impacts. In my view both will occur at the same time. most of the time people ignore what is good and what isn't not because they are ignorant butt mainly because the world is change so rapidly that people, society, nation as whole do not realize what are they really doing or what really are bearing on them.
let's take an example the well known case'' GFC: Global Financial Crisis".
A crisis which started in US but promptly spread all around the world in every short time. We have seen or have been impacted in one way or another. First why does this crisis spread out so quickly? probably is that because of high level interlinkages in the world's economy so that if things go wrong in one area it directly has an implication to the other side; here the best example would be the Stock Market.(The plummet in US stocks, certainly has adverse consequences in Asian's stocks)
But on the other side globalization has to be lauded because it helped a lot to make our lives much easier.( technology transfer) and a number of countries have benefited from this( Asian tiger countries) are the best example to name a few. Capital relocation(largely for the seek of cheap labour) turned Asian poor countries into emerging country economies!

I was trying to show how it is not obvious to stand and only state that globalisation has had a negative or positive impact on countries; because to assess the globalisation effect you will have to consider case by case, region by region. I will not be surprised if you find out that it is even more intertwined at the extent that you will be confused along the way and realize that the environment in which you're working in, is already globalized so that it want help much to be able to measure the effect.
My only advise is that ''globalization'' as I see it, there are leaders and followers and everyone has a different task in this context. Then a nation should ask itself what to do to full benefit from it. Remember that always there will both (+)and (-)effects for every action but the difference will be made by weighing what is actually helpful for you and then focus on it.

That why I conclude that let people adopt western cultures as long as they're upgrading their owns but if they simply do that without an motive then they will end up in messy!

Best for Africa in this context

Globalization has entered every corner of the world. All countries are effected by it, whether they know it or not. I think in some ways, its a good thing, while in other ways, its very bad. For example, as the world becomes more interconnected, where countries rely on one another for what they need and cannot produce themselves, globalization is important. However, this makes some countries forget their traditions as they become too connected to western countries. It also makes western countries feel superior, which is not right, and they often push their western 'norms' on other countries.

Globalization exposes markets all over the world to each other. This promotes competition and hence productivity and efficiency. Moreover cultural exchange happens at a much faster pace. Our heritage and traditions get exposed to a much larger audience.

Thus globalization helps to take away physical boundaries which will eventually lead to greater unification of the world.

I am afraid you are deluding yourself, globalisation just means that companies get massively bigger by exploiting the locals and destroying their way of life and their culture.

Here in the UK our high streets have been decimated by the Multinationals so much so that in many cases, were you to be blindfolded and whisked away to a new town, you wouldn't know where you were because all the shops are the same.

It is the way with the world when everybody rushes to embrace the Cocoa Cola/MacDonalds/Pizza Hut/Kentucky Fried Chicken culture, thinking they are being modern and sophisticated.

In reality they are letting their culture be eroded by this glittering bauble of modernisation.

One day the world will wake up and find it is in the hands of two or three multinational companies without any hope of returning.

Keep them out of your lives and keep supporting your local goods and services.
