I don't think food affects to the identity of the country. The only think that affects to the country, is the people and the politicians behaviour.

well... i won't go far
you in lebanon. and i'm in palestine we might have similar things ... in our cultures.. if we considered it arabic culture
you said it doesn't effect
but don't you think for example that restaurants or any thing that represent any other culture don't impact for just a little bit in the country they are in
thats first
second
for muslims for example coz they don't eat pork.. that makes a difference.. to their culture or when they move to another culture
don't you think lebanese food places.. restaurants in other countries don't have any effect to where they are? or at least show something about lebanon

Yes fooding habits are a part of culutre and religion. Because if it wouldnt vary with culture then why the people of the world have same fooding habits...I mean there many places which has the same crops as staples but the way of making recipies and eating behavior is different. The culture is the identity of any country and fooding habits can be one of the identifications of the culture.

yes ... true
thats the point Yashoda
no Nathalie i don't think it has any negative effect...
coz it's just learning more about others and habits
unless it's a reason for other food habits to disappear...

yeah, if our culture have good fooding habits, then we need to preserve them and if they harm our health then we need to avoid them like in our country some of the groups drink home made alcohol as a part of their culture and they are suffering from stomach ulcer and cancer...we need to avoid such bad behaviours.....also we should be conciuos....lets not replace our foods by other foods....lol...

I would definitely consider food as part of my identity even though most of us probably eat food adapted from aroud the world (like pasta, tortillas, alcohol, etc). The food I consume signifies my relgious identity to a certain extent like what is prohibited or not. It also denotes which region in my country I come from.
