Relativism and death of critical thinking

'Every truth is tenable.' Present day tolerance preaches that truth is relative and does not rest on any single viewpoint. As it becomes less fashionable to critically access any idea, man is gradually abandoning the philosophical reasoning and quest to embrace the new democratized philosophy-relativism. Does every idea really have equal merit? To what extent do we tolerate and compromise on ideas that are inimical to our individual comfort? if relativism depicts tolerance, where do we draw the line?

Its a very thin line we tread on when we embrace tolerance. Look at President Obama for instance, his tolerance for people of all faith, gender, race and sexual orientation has had him receive a few jabs from anti-gay activists. I believe that each and every one has his/her truth and as a journalist, i root for freedom of thought, speech and association, I thus respect everyone's point of view and like Martin Luther King Jr. Said, I may not agree with what you are saying but i will defend to death your right to say it. I guess the days of hard liners and philosophers are gone. What we have is an age of ' the truth is true according to me, and yours according to you', in others words, TOLERANCE.
