Visual/Verbal, Student Statement (draft) 5th Microsoft Partners in Learning Regional Innovative Teachers' Conference 2009

First of all I would like to acknowledge and thank Jesse once again for his original idea of the student statement, thank you Jesse what a great idea!
In order to ensure that the written statement project gets completed, we need to make sure that we have the option for the testimonies to be collected both in writing and in visual format.
Following Jesse's idea of the statement I suggest that participants post ideas in writing to the YOUTH STATEMENT (draft) 5th Microsoft Partners in Learning Regional Innovative Teachers' Conference 2009 forum for Jesse to compile a first draft. And for you to post YouTube links to your visual/verbal contributions in this forum. It will be useful for conference organizers to have both written and video materials as they will have the flexibility to use the different formats for different purposes (for example printed material as opposed to projecting material on screens in the foyer of the conference)." And students could find this way, more beneficial if they find speaking an easier way to get their ideas across rather than a written statement. That’s one of the problems of writing, sometimes our intentions and how we meant things to be read, don’t always sound the same to the person reading, nor make sense. But yet we still have the option of a written statement for those students who do not have access to webcams or video cameras, or may not have the required bandwidth to upload said videos to YouTube.
Since I proposed to collect the other video contributions earlier, I am happy to project-manage these to make sure we keep within the timeframe – As Kat kindly created a YouTube group for us I think we should add our videos to the group and then post our YouTube link to this thread, stating that this is our verbal/visual statement. And then ask other students to comment them, on what they like and agree with.
I would like to also stress that this video is only a visual expression of your written statement; you can either present both a written statement and a visual statement or just a written statement or just a visual statement. The choice is yours to make
Then we can assemble all ideas together (both the written statements and the Visual statements) to make a more compelling message. And as I said earlier this way the written statement would also be included as a visual format and conference organizers then have the luxury of choosing which format meets their needs best

We are meeting this week to record our statements.
Is anyone else wanting to get behind this movement? To record our voices, our message?

Hey,
Just a quick update - Liza and I are filming tomorrow for our visual statement which I should edit and upload that night.
Aside from that I have also filmed quite a cool video In the video is footage of my friends, ballroom dancing, shuffling (new popular form of dancing), speaking Te Reo Maori (Official Maori Language) and singing etc I think its quite a cool insight to our teenage culture
Heres the video

Te Reo Maori is one of the national languages of New Zealand, I just asked for him to say something in it. Its his Mihi I think which is about him, his whanau, his tribe, his canoe, his ancestors.
