Re: [Poll] Are you satisfied with the education system in your country?

I really agree with Liza that our New Zealand curriculum is on the right path- I love their idea of a student who as a result of their schooling has become a "confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learner."
I just don't think we are really going to get to that idealism if we keep teaching the way we do.
Teachers and students like wise seem to have this mindset, that learning is only between 8.45am-3.15pm, but it’s not is it? You are continuously learning. This is something you will hear me saying across many of these threads and it’s something I am very passionate about. Today for example I had production rehearsals, afterwards some of my friends and I walked about 20 minutes across town to a house. This was the home of our ‘guide on the side’ Donna Dyet, who on Friday I had a ranged a group meeting with, to touch base before she left to represent us at a conference in Melbourne this coming week. Several other students in SPLICE met us there, and we discussed what jobs we were going to allocate to people to make a start on some filming for our up-coming video. Now we didn’t have to do this but we were so passionate about the SPLICE project that we chose to. Now bear in mind most of us had been at rehearsals all day and we were then taking another 2 hours out of our day, before we had tea to discuss learning. Tomorrow I will release a short video maybe 2-3 minutes of footage of us working together, collaborating and discussing and you can see that we will all be lifelong learners; we are all passionate and involved.
We need to break the traditions and do what members of SPLICE do, work together outside of school on community based projects to make a difference to the real world

Seems like I was too busy reading other topics but forgot my own topic.
@Ben The "HECS-Help" idea is great. But does it mean that you have to work for state companies after university?

Number 3: Teachers must be highly qualified and must be trained well not only in conventional methods of teaching but also by using Information and Communication technology for the advancement of the quality of learning.
Jessie, you are right about the equality between rural & urban schools. But how can we do that? The infrastructure in urban regions is absolutely better than in rural regions, because it's well-invested not only by governments but also by companies. If you want to bring equality to both regions, you will have to invest much more in rural areas, while the fact is that there are much less students here.

Yes, I am satisfied with the education system in Bangladesh. In fact in government universities education is almost free.
I'm surprised, but well, happy to know that But why don't you tell us more about what make you the most satisfied with?

I am "somehow" satisfied with the educational system in my country, the Philippines, because nnumerous graduates were already successful in their chosen career. Some students are doing great in other schools or universities abroad and they are really competitive. But also there are students that are not so fortunate enough like the others. Well, there is no perfect educational system. Some may say that their educational system is closed to perfection, but even though how high the standards may be and how advance the technology is, it still depends upon a student if he/she will give out his/her best or not.
