How do you learn?

I think it would be quite interesting to find out the different ways that we all learn.
Are you a Visual learner? Do you learn best when you see what you're trying to learn?
Are you an Auditory learner? Do you do your best when you can listen? (Verbal discussions maybe?)
Or are you a Kinesthetic learner? Do you learn best by doing or when learning involves your hands or other parts of your body?
Or do you learn in a differnt way? Maybe you find it easier when you are using a computer? Typing out words rather then writing them over and over? Or something completely different?
How do you learn?
Please comment with what you selected.

Actually, everybody has various ways of learning. Some learns by reading, some learns by doing and some learn by listening to others and so on. For me, I feel I can learn more effectively by talking to others because when I talk to others I have opportunities to use my critical thinking and practise my response ability. It is not the matter the way we learn but it is the way we discover our learning styles.

Lots and lots of highlighters, late nights, and disposal of your social life.
I don't think it's about exactly how you learn, but the amount of time and effort you commit to it

Based on the options given by Marcus, I am a visual and kinesthetic learner.
I can easily remember something if I have seen it or being demonstrated to me, but I can easily learn something if I will be the one performing or doing it. Because there is a high retention in my brain.

To learn is to study.

I learn a lot when I'm really involved in the process. I think retention is enhanced when the person is able to have a first hand experience on the topic. I am a kinesthetic learner.

That's right. Learning can happen when the person is willing to learn. Also, when it comes to technology, people will know more about it and it can help our educational system be advanced, if people are willing to learn about the same and to accept that technology really helps, respectively.

Of Marcus' 3 I am probably a visual learner, but I am mostly reading/writing. I use brainstorms or mindmaps and write mock essays or do practice questions.
I think duhless had I a great point about talking to other people, because that really helpful to me as well. I find it is one of the best ways to cement your learning because you are required to put it in a coherent way and organise your ideas and thoughts for communication. But that may just be because of my learning style...thoughts?

Sorry guys, just to clarify I originally meant this thread to include a poll which listed the three scientificaly proven learning styles and an other option. I was then thinking that we could talk about the option we selected in this thread. But since it was my first attempt at making a poll I kinda mucked up. Sorry

I think we all learn a little using each of these ways. However, for me personally, I learn the most through seeing, and then reflecting on whatever I have seen.
I usually talk less, and spend more time thinking. I think evaluating whatever I see, really adds on to whatever I learn throughout a day.

That's good, Sagar. Analyzing with the use of technology could help you more. Take the case of scientist. With the technology, they were able to invent more products, facilities, etc.
If you will use technology when you analyze things, then you may be one of the scientist in the future.

Jessie James

Well, it depends many in many ways but mostly I prefer to study with REAL teacher. Sometimes teaching can be in a real-time video or a tape. It doesn't make me feel like really studying. There are no interactions between the student and the teacher so it doesn't makes the atmosphere to be interesting. So, I prefer learning with REAL teacher with interactions like talking, speaking and more.

Urm, interesting question.
I would say by reading and doing.
Depends on the subject though.
History,literature,etc...reading is enough.
But I prefer to "do" when it comes to science classes. I understand better and can recall easily what I've done.
