So Shobana, what about classrooms ? Do you in any way use "technology" or modern gadgets, for usual, daily learning in your own classrooms ?
Hey Sagar, yes, we do. We have computers, a projector, screen and a TV in each classroom. There are 6 comps in each classroom for group projects, but we use the comp.lab for individual research.
How bout you?

Hmm where are all the people? I think it's a very interesting topic for us to show others how we experience our school lives.
I think I was luckier than most of you guys, because I had a chance to experience 2 very different styles of schools at the same time during high school. One is a common public high school (actually it wasn't very common, it was a school for gifted students), and one is an Indian programming center (normally only highschool graduates can attend, but I have a scholarship from a company to study there, so I'm an exception).
I went to my high school in the morning. It started from 7.15am to 11.20am or 12.10pm. We didn't have anything hi-tech there. Teachers used chalk to write on blackboards, we didn't use computers or projectors (except for IT class, but we only had one 1 IT lesson a week). There were no CDs for learning offered. The textbooks were in Vietnamese.
My class at the programming center started from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The textbooks were in English but teachers used Vietnamese a lot (lol). We had a theory class then a lab then a theory and then a lab blah blah. We had projectors. Teachers sent assignments, lesson slides and supplementary documents to our emails after each lesson, and we discussed via emails. I usually spent 1 or 2 hours more after class at school labs, so that I could practice and ask others whenever I had problems. You could bring your laptop to the class. We had both books library and online library so you could download learning materials (but available only among school network, so you couldn't access at home). Teachers encouraged us to use Internet for research. It was pretty nice to study at a technology center.
I also had a parttime job as a web editor in the afternoon, so my high schoolwas pretty busy. But I loved it.

We're almost the same Chip.. but as far as I can remember regarding the use of our student email, class discussion or lesson slides/presentations are somehow not allowed to be sent through email. Emails are for class or school announcement, on-line projects, or research docs only. Because our school wants their students not to depend too much (or let say, to become somehow lazy)with technology especially inputs during class discussion. That's why our school requires each student to have a notebook, which is actually being checked from time to time. But we are still allowed to use laptops, palmtops, and other gadgets.
I hope they will allow lesson slides/presentations, class inputs, to be included in the email like on your system Chip...

Hmmm where did you study? Yes not all lectures are permitted to be sent via emails (actually most of them are already in the textbooks), but the examples, demos should be sent so that we can keep track of what we study. It also depends on teachers.

I studied in a science high school here in the Philippines. Demos/simulations are fine to be sent to email, but not those slide shows for broad topics that are already summarized or sorted by our teachers. Everyone has to do research and after the topic is discussed, students will colate all key points from the topic and will then be gathered by the teacher. The teacher will be the one to decide on which of the said key points will be included in the summary. that's what I mean.
yes, you're right, it depends actually on the teachers. There are teachers that will not distribute a soft copy of the lesson through emails or other storage device, but they produce hard copies at times.

Do you study at a private or public school? I'm impressed to know how innovative Philipine teachers are I could only expereinced those facilities at a technology center.

Actually, my school is a public school but our curriculum is very different compared to regular public high schools and private high schools... Our curriculum deals with science, technology, engineering + the cubjects taken up by other regular public and private high schools.... and we're just lucky because our city government really supports our educational program.
