There are two sides, pros and cons.
For pros/benefits: How does testing on animals improve human life? Why do people do testing on animals in the first place? Are there certain tests that cannot be done on humans because they are too dangerous?
For cons: If there are dangerous tests, is it ethical to do them on animals?
Think about those ideas to start, and expand upon them with research. If you want to understand the subject, check out wikipedia and such. You could even check out PETA and their beliefs (ie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PETA#Position_on_animal_testing).

Animal testing is somewhat good but like on rats and small animals. animals arent humans so they dont have the ability to reason and though it sounds in human you could save lives through animal testing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i made you a kewkie but i eated it...

well, we dont want to test on animals, but remember if a product does harm the tester wouldnt we rather it harm a animal than an actual human being? but then again there are people who get paid to test products or volunteer, so they are testing at there own risk. remember though not many people volunteer, so pur last resort is animals, otherwise how can we put the people who buy the product in risk?

While animal testing raises some ethical concerns, it does serve as a better alternative to conducting clinical tests that are too dangerous to be tested on humans.

Animal testing is something that should be banned. People would complain if we did it to humans without their consent, so why can we do it to animals too? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christine Culley

It is definitely a trade-off between a greater good for humanity vs. the treatment of animals.
Morally, it would seem to be wrong, but there is a highly documented and pragmatic case to be made to use animals to develop research and treatments to make humans healthier and safer.
This is all predicated on the fact that humans have more value than animals. Some might disagree with that, however. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCOTT COCKING
