Why is social innovation important?

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have last posted! Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking as to why social innovation is important? I think as TIG members we all realize that social innovation is key to creating change in the world, but why is it important to you?

Yes, it is important to me because, I believe that we are now living in an innovative world where by if we could collectively put our ideas or innovations together, then we will surely create some positive changes in the world.
This is why I created a discussione which is still on the floor; as to what can we as youth do collectively for the maintainance of global peace.
This is so because, we all as human beings have our various individual potentialities or talents which could be seen in even two identical twins.

Well, the organizers of the upcoming World Innovation Forum think innovation is important because it "paves the way to increased profitability, business solutions and growth."
Not sure if they're referring here to "social innovation" but they must be on to something seeing as they're charging $2,390 for a two-day forum.
If anyone reading this is attending this forum please drop me a line.

We are living in a increasingly global world. As the world becomes more global, it is imperative that we understand global issues and see ourselves in the context of the global arena and especially, the responsibilities of being a global community member. Some of the major current global issues are:
* climate change and global warming,
* immigration and employment,
* natural resource depletion and energy usage,
* consumerism and sustainable development,
* terrorism and global trade,
* healthcare and poverty.
The Millennium Development goals are a clear indication of the plight of the world. Majority of the world is still trapped in providing basic sustenance and safety. Unless we actively motivate and inspire ourselves and the community at large to take positive and meaningful action to address these global issues, we have contributed little to our individual growth and to the growth of the community .

The value of globalization is in sharing and development of ideas, of best practices, and development of universal modern values such as:
* human rights,
* civil rights,
* child labor rights,
* womens rights and more.
Social innovation is a process that enables these global ideas, concepts and values to intermingle with traditional values . It will result in change and transformation of economic, social, cultural and political structure of a society. How successfully a society or a community is able to adapt and adopt these “new trends” in a meaningful method will define their success and prosperity.

I think it's important because it allows us to grow as a people, a country, and a world. Without it, we wouldnt be accepting of others or anything.
I also dont think that social innovation is everything. Brand innovation deals a lot with it too. Like when a brand of car comes out with their new lineup for the year, it makes people change, and some buy that new car.
They're all intertwined.
